Hello, I just moved to a new flat and love it. But I wonder if I can set up my pole here because I do have a wooden ceiling. And I am afraid to break it. The pole space is very limited to but I really want to have my pole I miss dancing so badly!!! I have the same thing in my old house. And there was no way i can repair it since the wood is varnish and my dad would kill me if i paint over it. 😕 But i try it anyway, the hardest part was to find the joint but now it's been up for 6 month and when i took it down my ceiling is ok. I have an x-pole so the silicone around the yop protect it from leaving marks. I just wonder about the color that may change after a few years. Will see. My first idea was to take off the fixture and put it over so if i end up with marks i could buy the decorative thing you put around the fixture (sorry don't know the word in english) and hide it.

How did you finde the joints? i don't have a idea how i could find them
If you go to the hardware store (Home Depot, Lowes, etc) and get a studfinder, you should be able to find the joists easily. There are instructions included in the packaging of the device, but if you are unsure, just ask someone there for help.
The stud finder don't work on my ceiling so my bf had to knock and push to find a hard spot.

I think I will have to ask a friend to knock on my ceiling because i am way to small 😀 i hope i can set it up soon I'm missing it.
I too have a wooden plank ceiling. I tore out the false ceiling and found the wood ceiling. My pole gas been up for 5 months and holding steady!! My BF said it would be fine and so far so good!! 😎
