Hello Polers! It's been a while since I last posted on here, been super busy with sorting out my graduation and looking for a new job! I just wanted to ask, during practise what do you normally use to wipe your pole down with? My friend recommended just straight Vodka, but I was wondering what does everyone else use? And what's best for grip? Thank you poling friends :) Lisa Xxx

Don't waste vodka lol! I use isopropyl alcohol (surgical spirit at Boots) on my chrome - white wine vinegar also good but smelly and will make you want chips! It does depend on what your pole is made of; I'm sure someone more expert will come along and advise soon... I wipe all the time: still breaking in new pole and use dry hands and x chalk too as I am in tropics. And it's sweatsville here.
I use isopropyl alchohol and "dry hands" for my sweaty hands.

Our studio uses Windex on chrome X poles, so that's what I've been using at home, as well. It's gentle enough on the chrome and doesn't do too much damage to my skin, either. I've ordered some "Dry Hands", but still waiting for it to arrive. Have yet to try it. In the meantime, I find that keeping my hands super clean (washing with soap 6-8 times during class!) and dry is the best grip aid...
ronibmoses, you can wipe your hands with a towel soaked with a little alcohol. that way you don't have to leave and wash your hands everytime. I have really sweaty hands too. :)

Hi Phoenix, Thanks, I'll try that! I have a class tonight and I always feel weird having to wash my hands so many times, but it's the only thing I found that really works. I'll drop by the drug store on the way to class... Thanks! :)
Watch out with Surgical Spirit, as most of that you can buy in pharmacies in the UK has CASTOR OIL in it! In class I use microfibre cloths, with a spritz of water, we add Dettol to the water to keep everything fresh. If I really need to strip the pole down, Metholated Spirits is great as it evaporates very readily, and cuts through grease really well.
If you're washing your hands a lot, this could be working against you. (remember how your skin goes wrinkly in the bath or while washing up? your hand skin holds a lot of water!) Make sure the soap you're using doesn't have moisturisers. Cheap-ass washing up liquid is the best bet!

The best and most recommended pole cleaner is rubbing alcohol- try 70%. We do not recommend vodka, windex, or anything else because those chemicals are A) somewhat toxic and not great for your skin B) could potentially corrode/damage the finish Thanks!
