let's see... ATTENTION: The room numbers for the USPDF workshops have now been listed on the USPDF site. Go here to the Mind Body Client to see which room your workshop is in: https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/asp/home.asp?studioid=8706 onclick="window.open(this.href);return false Room 806 is the smallest of the rooms, and currently where NYPD teaches all of its classes. Room 802 is going to be much bigger. Both rooms are on the same floor of the same building, so no worries about back-to-back workshops, if that's your case. NYPD will be occupying both rooms beginning in March.

Ooooh, sandybrown, I could KISS you for organizing this list!! 🥂 I decided to take one of Allegra's classes instead of the Miss USPDF one. Frankly, there's a 50/50 chance I will have already done a workshop with (or WORK WITH---go Fleur!!) the winner. Depending on if Jenyne and Alethea stay with B&P, I will cancel the USPDF ones because they were more expensive =[ I hope everything gets worked out.....it would totally suck if Jenyne and Alethea back out on a full class at B&P.... Edited to add my spot in Allegra's class!!
Ohhhhh nooooo! I hope they don't cancel their workshops! Those particular workshops are filled, and I'm really looking forward to it! (And USPDF's workshops are more expensive....and it's the studio I take classes at, lol).

oh no...i am taking two at body and pole as well....i really want to take a class with althea 🙁 i will email body and pole right now to get an update. fleur are you cancelling your workshop with body and pole?

None of the sunday workshops at Body & Pole will be cancelled but the saturday ones might be (Jenyne and Alethea). Just know that if they are canceled, it isn't Alethea, Jenyne, or Lian's fault.

ok thanks fleur. i did email lian as well. probably will get a response back from her tomorrow b/c i emailed her kind of late. i hope everything gets worked out so no one is disappointed. but i do understand that sometimes things happen and it takes a big effort to put together these types of events and sometimes things don't go as smoothly as we like them to. i am sure we all have fun regardless 🥂
Hey everyone... So this is what is going on regarding the workshops we have scheduled in March. As you all know Body & Pole is not affiliated with the USPDF or with NY Pole Dance studio. We are a brand new studio in NYC, and a completely separate entity from NY Pole Dance. I booked the girls a couple of months ago, knowing that they are coming here for the USPDF competition. I waited for all of them to give me the thumbs up, then waited for the USPDF to come out with their workshops schedule, and based on that, I scheduled the girls in a way that did not interfere with their USPDF classes. At no point did I think this was going to be an issue as I knew there was nothing in their contract saying they can't teach at other studios. I also figured there are going to be so many women coming to NYC for this that the NY Pole Dance workshops will not be enough for everyone to be able to take a workshop with these amazing women. With that said, a couple of weeks after posting the workshops on my website, I received a call from one of the instructors telling me that they all got an email from Wendy and Anna, the founders of the USPDF and the owners of NY Pole Dance, telling them that they are not allowed to teach at other studios that are not affiliated with the USPDF while they are in NY, between March 18-20th. I have been trying to fight this for the last month, but it seems that the USPDF girls, think that they own the instructors and can forbid them from working at my studio. Once Wendy and Anna found out that they booked workshops at my studio, they told the girls that if they chose to do so, they will cancel their workshops at NY Pole dance, and not pay their hotels and flights to NYC. It is completely illegal and wrong on so many levels. I asked the girls to all stick to their commitment to Body & Pole, but it seems that one by one they are buckling under the pressure that the USPDF is putting on them. They are bullying them because they know they can. The girls have worked really hard for the competition and fear that Wendy and Anna will sabotage their chances to win if they work for me on Saturday. I sent the USPDF girls a letter from my attorney telling them that what they are doing is not legal, and even sent a very long email to both, practically begging them to let this go, as all their workshops are full, and as the representatives of the USPDF they should support all studios, not just their own. I told them it is not about me or my studio, it is about all the girls that had already signed up for these workshops. They didn't even bother to reply. I called several times, but they will not take my calls. I canceled Karols' Saturday class as she only had a few girls signed up and she insisted that I cancel it. I can't blame her, as she has been under so much pressure from them. They also send out a contract retroactively last week, for the girls to sign now, saying they can not teach at my studio. Messed up, I know. Both Alethea and Jenyne have expressed that they are too scared to fight with Wendy and Anna and that they would like to cancel the Saturday workshops at Body & Pole. I told both of them that they had a commitment to my studio and to the students, and that I will not cancel the workshops. I am torn and don't know what to do. I am trying to get in touch with Felix to see if I can fly her out here for 2 workshops on Saturday, instead of the ones with Alethea and Jenyne, but she hasn't responded yet. I am so disappointed at the USPDF and the fact that they are not doing what they are suppose to do, which is support the pole dance community and studios. They very clearly don't care about anything but making money off of all you girls. It is so wrong that they simply don't care that I have 24 women signed up for these classes who might not be able to afford their prices, and that might not be able to take workshops as they are all full at NY Pole Dance. I have tried everything, even looked at other spaces to run these workshops on Sunday instead, but there is too much overlapping in the schedules that it is simply impossible for me to do that. I have been breaking my head trying to find a solution for this. I am trying to please everyone and I can't. This has been a horrible month for me, dealing with this nonsense. It is so uncalled for. There are enough women for both of our studios to have full workshops and be happy. But Wendy and Anna are just being greedy and selfish and frankly I am really disgusted by their unprofessional behavior. I am so so sorry that this is what might be happening, I am doing my best to try to make up for it one way or another. Feel free to contact Wendy and Anna directly to let them know how fucked up this is. I will keep everyone posted. What a mess, but I understand Jenyne and Alethea, when you work so hard for a competition of this size you dont want to hinder your chances. I hope there's a solution to this. 🙁
Awww, I just got the cancellation comfirmation on my Saturday Body & Pole workshops. 🙁 I have mixed feelings on this. While I understand why USPDF did this, and I understand why the competitors didn't want to cause conflict that would lessen their chances at winning, the only people I care about are those of us that signed up for these workshops. Especially since the workshops with some of these competitors are completely booked. It's not fair to the workshop participants at all. Wendy and Anna are both great instructors and they are good at what they do, but perhaps next time they should consider drawing up a contract well in advance for the competitors so that this isn't an issue next year. I signed up for four workshops at Body & Pole, with my two Saturday ones being cancelled. Out of those two, I was really looking forward to Alethea's.

i dont think it's fair to the students either, especially since all people want is to take class with these fabulous instructors. i'm sorry if i'm offending students of NYPD and that is absolutely not my intention, i dont know wendy or anna personally, but i'd like to think i'm unbiased. USPDF's mission statement claims to be to create "a network for pole dancers and studio owners in the US" but i dont see that happening here. why is USPDF limiting competitors in this way? the competition and judging body of the competition should have nothing to do with where they teach, or what studios they teach for. there are more then enough students to go around and sell out all the classes.
I'm not offended at all and definitely agree with you, Amy. It sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth that things are happening the way that they are. And now that this community knows the reason for why these workshops have been cancelled, I wonder how the reputation for USPDF (and NYPD, for that matter) will fair in the future. It's hard to not associate NYPD with USPDF because most of the people at NYPD is involved in USPDF in some fashion. I hope that Anna and Wendy connect with Lian to discuss this matter, particularly since Lian was one of the competitors last year and Kyra is competing as well. Most importantly, they all should talk because it's just the gracious thing to do. I understand wanting to generate as much revenue as possible, but there shouldn't be any bad blood between pole studios/federations/whatever you want to call it.
I hate to see that there has been so much drama over something so simple as women giving workshops to other women that want to learn. If the girls are available and it doesn't interfere with their USPDF commitments, I don't understand why USPDF won't allow them to teach at other locations in their spare time, especially if the workshops for USPDF are all filled already. I'm hoping that there is some other reason that makes more sense that hasn't surfaced yet. Cuz this seems pretty messed up.

The really unprofessional part is send out "revised" contracts after finding out that the girls where scheduled to do work shops....that's just bitchy!! Well....if I do end up going to NYC for the comp I will be taking a workshop at Body and Pole if they are offereing any! Sorry to any USPDF competitors who are teaching workshops...I would rather pay you for a private lesson than give USPDF money atm and you only get a flat rate... this is very unfortunate....

this really does suck for everybody...i wish there could be some kind agreement that can be reached without getting attorneys involved. but unfortunately when it comes to running a business, contracts, etc... its not all fun and games...it can get real ugly really quickly. 😨

They would only communicate with the instructors, but never once reached out to me or replied to my calls or email. Way to go with representing this community.
