I've poled on 50mm, 45mm and most recently, 38mm poles. I think 38mm is my new fave. It's so easy to grip. What's your favorite pole size and why?

I poled on a 50mm only a few times before selling it because my hands arejust too small! I love that I can hold my new 45mm, and someday I will get a 38 or 40mm -- it'll be love at first grip, I already know it! ❤️

I am poling on a 50mm at the moment. I was going to get one that spinned but i wanted to work more on getting the moves down first so i went with the one i have

I started using an Xpole 50mm sport and then got a 45mm X pole Xpert a year later as I had very achey fingers from using the 50mm. I love my 45mm and find my grip so much better and found no problem with CKR's and thigh holds from down sizing. I would like to try the 40mm but I don't think I can get another pole yet, as that averages out at one a year :) maybe if I sell the 50mm lol

We have both 45mm and 50mm in class. I always pole on the 50mm pole. I'm slender with long fingers so i need all the girth I can get to hold on. {Wow that sounded dirty! }

I definitely have to agree on the achey fingers but I am waitng for my gloves and powder to come in the mail to see if that helps.
I read and watched youtube reviews on sizes of poles, and I decided to go with a 45mm xpert and I love it. Im just under 5'2 and the pole works great with my hand grips. After a month of poling in my room, I finally went to a class at Brass Ovaries in Austin , Tx. I tried out the 50mm pole but it was too wide for what I was used too (haha). So I hopped on their 45 and it is just like my baby at home.
At the moment I have a 0mm and I can't stand it because it feels like nothing is there.
I love 38's, I like 45's, I tolerate but don't like 50's.
I can't wait to get a pole:-/

45, very small hands, actually wud love to try a 40!!!
You know what? I don't know. I bought my pole from Sfactor because I didn't know about Xpoles at the time, but it's a standard size pole I guess. I thought about getting a smaller pole because I have small hands, but the I figured that if by chance I got to a place with bigger poles then I wouldn't be able to hold on, so I needed to learn now. It has an option to spin you just pull a pen from the bottom.
Bought a 40mm cause of my tiny hands. If xpole had a 38 I would of gotten that instead.

I have a 50, 45, and a 40. I do love the 40 but I think that the 45 will always be favorite because it's think enough for my hands and thick enough for my legs. How I do love the way my iron x and tg lift look on the 40 thought lol!
I'm still currently a fan of 50. I'm going at attempt to get more used to a 45. I played for a few seconds on the 40 at Mid-West and I can't not imagine trying to do stuff on it with my giant hands. I felt like my fingers overlaped to the middle of my fingers.
I started with a 50mm and switched to a 45mm, which I am really digging. In class they are 38's.
I have a 50mm cos that's what the pole studio I took classes at had. If I had extra cash for a 45mm, I'd love to get one too just to see the difference, but I do like how smooth and non pinchy the 50 is for sliding down it and I've heard 45's can pinch?
50 mm xpert chrome. I got it with the thought that most venues (dance clubs etc) that have poles they are usually 99% of the time 50mm, so that's why I chose the biggest size. For me it's kinda like the whole if you know how to drive stick shift you can drive any car. I figured if I learned on the biggest pole, I can pole on ANY pole. It has proved to be true but it is tough having a 50 at home but learning on a 45 mm at the studio I go to. But I honestly do like poling on the 45 mm better its a little easier than poling on the 50 mm for me. When I get a house, I plan on getting a 45 mm TG xpert but I will put both the 50 mm chrome and 45 mm TG up and use both.

I learnt on 45's, played sporadically on 50's at the same studio and then switched to Bobbi's and learnt on 38's. I bought my 45's X-Pert before I ever tried the 38's and often times dream about having a 38's or 40's. The 40's is the only diameter I haven't tried but I don't think there will be much difference to the 38's. I'd love to downsize to a 38 or 40 at home because I'll be able to grip better and most likely be able to COMFORTABLY pole in my Mighty Grip gloves whereas my 45's don't allow me to as the gloves just won't grip! (Maybe I should invest in a pair of the tacky/sticky finish Mighty Grip gloves and save the leather ones for another pole) For now, I find these white dishwashing gloves with pink fingertips work best on my 45 Chrome & the studio's 45 Stainless Steel!!
I have a 50mm Xpole because the studio I learned on had 50s, so that's what I ordered. Sometimes I wish I had gotten a 45mm, especially on my bad days because my hands are small and sweaty. But my instructor had the feeling that if you are used to working on a 50, then you can always work on a 45 or a 40 with no problems. Going the other way would be much harder. So the idea is to make yourself work harder for bigger gains. We recently had a Karol Helms workshop at my old studio and when Karol put her hand on a studio pole for the first time, she gasped and said "these are 50s?!" Since a lot of studios use 45s or 40s these days, it had been a very long time since she had used a 50. She was still amazing, but it made me realize how much difference 5mm makes. I tried a 45mm once at another studio and it did make a difference for my hand grip, but I also found it was a lot more painful to do leg holds (smaller surface area = more pressure = more pain). Maybe when I get to the point of doing handsprings and ayeshas I will get myself a 45 or a 40. But for basic pole stuff, 50 is fine.
I started out on the 50mm and thought the 45's were horrible.... lol But until I started doing, or trying to do the extended butterfly... I fell in love with the 45. I have really really long fingers (think piano fingers) so the 50 was really comfortable for me. Except with the ext. butterfly... i felt like my grip was gonna give and I was just gonna fall... I overgrip on the 45 because my fingers are so long, and it took me a long time to re-adjust my grip, but I can now switch back and forth from 45 to 50 for the different moves without it hurting.... When I bought my pole though, i went with the 45 because I wanted to feel better inverting and doing my butterfly at home alone ... lol There were times when I regretted it, but those have passed now... :-)
I started on 50mm brass pole in studio and have a chrome one at home. My new studio has 45mm poles which were hard for me to climb at 1st but I am learning advanced tricks on them. Now, I find my 50mm harder to grip with my knee and for the tgh. I am going to invest in a brass 45mm pole soon...or overtly hint for one for xmas😮
40mm because I'm barely 4'9" and have freakishly small hands =T
