I have seen this before and I just spent the last 45. min trying to find it on youtube with no luck. It is when doing floorwork, you hook a leg and turn that into a spin? Is this an actual move with a name? If so, is it only for spinney poles or can you actually get momentum off the floor to spin this on a stationary pole?

I am not sure of the name of it...for some reason a spin up is coming to mind. I have seen it a million times..... Just found it in another thread here....it is covered in Jamilla's AOP Vol 3.
I think I know what you're talking about. Alethea taught it to us in her Sexy Flexy workshop last year at the East Coast regionals. She had us hook a knee pit on the pole (while on the floor, butt kind of up off the floor in the air) and then we swung the free leg back and around to give momentum to swing up onto the pole. It's a transition move from the floor to the pole. Does that sound like what you mean? I don't think it has a name. I think it's more of a transitional thingy.

SissyBuns - yup, that it the one I am thinking of. I love the visual appeal of that move, to me it is as if the dancer just can't stop her attraction to the pole (even though she is doing floorwork - the pole is still there, just kinda lurking and waiting) and then when she finally reconnects with the pole, the pole seems to just pull her from the floor and gently spin her and they are reconnected again. It is like a "the love between a dancer and her pole" move 😂 (at least that is how it plays in my head when I see it). That probably sounds goofy, but some moves create a story in my head and that is definitely one of them. Jenn - I kinda like that one too, it seems like the positioning is about the same, but instead of hooking and spinning, she goes a whole nother direction and uses it as a pose.
Sharon Polsky has that on her original DVD but didnt name it in there...I know Michelle Mynx has a name for it but I'm not certain what she calls it. In our classes we give technical names and call it the reclining leg hook spin.

Hi i learnt a new spin today but didnt catch its name sorry about the long winded describtion ... right hand on normally then bending double the left hand behind the left leg then the right leg comes through the gap and ends up doing the splits up the pole? Thanks 🙂
I have been trying to figure out Wendy's version since I saw this video. I have no idea how you can pretty much jump from a kneeling positio!! NTPD Wendy
Chemmie...obviously there's a lot of core to this move but the mechanics are in the bounce, swinging the arms and pushing with instep of both feet to push up into it. Swinging the arms is an important part to gain the momentum. Additionally, the grip as you grab the pole then bending the elbows helps you pull in then further up.

I don't know if it will help but I call it "spin off floor" or "spin up" (I think I learnt it on a DVD), and there's a lot of variations (cross leg, attitude, cradle,...). 🌸
