Stainless Steel X-Pert by X-Pole
Posted by KrishaPhoto on July 23, 2011 at 3:00 amOn Monday my 50mm stainless steel X-Pert will arrive https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Been wanting this material for AGES! (I was actually on a waiting list with X-Pole becaused I called them on a whim asking if they would ever make it.)
Anyone else getting it or recieved it yet?
I also want a brass one but they don't have it in 50mm, yet.

Tell me what you think of it. Have you used any other SS poles before?? If so, let me know if this is slicker or not.
FYI, xpole said they will not be making a 50mm brass pole due to sturdiness issues.
-
I’ve used both Lil’ Mynx and Platinum
Stages stainless steel poles at studios. It’s a dream IMO compared to the awful idea of chrome coated steel. SS can of course get “slick” but at least it’s responsive to cleaning & wiping down the pole and grip aids. When did you hear that? I was told over the phone this past Monday when I placed my order that 50mm brass will be made as well. Not right away but definitely.

akkkk I hope they do a 50 brass, I really don't care for 45's at all. And can't stand stainless steel. Chrome is a nice happy meduim for me for right now.

I had a conversation, at length, about it with Kimara. She said that they have been seaching for a really long time for a decent brass that would be possible to use for a solid brass tube, that wouldn't break. Apparently this brass is different than the brass of other pole companies. The tubing is thicker than all the other x poles because brass is a softer metal. That is all part of why she said they won't make a 50. She told me "never." I guess a 50 would be less sturdy than the 45 because of the inner diameter being wider. I think she even said they won't be making extension past a certain height for the 45s due to stability and safety. If things have changed then cool, but be sure to talk to Kimara cuz the regular sales people don't always know what is going on. When I originally started talking to them about the SS and brass poles, they kept thinking I was talking about the chrome ang TG. Call and talk to Kimara.
Re the SS pole. Kimara said it was matte finish, so I am curious how that will affect the grip.
Pole Danzer makes a 50mm spinner brass pole (and ss as well.) Emperean likes them a lot. I have been e-mailing them back and forth. They have semi-permanent and permanent option poles. I haven't tried them yet, but they are my next purchase when I move.

hmmm while they do have a vaulted ceiling adapter I'm not liking the bottom of the pole danzer poles.
-
They do se rather odd, but they do not seem too annoying. They do not look like they are gonna get in the way or anything.
-
Please let us know how it is.. I was interested in it but they said the finish was matte so consequently I became uninterested.. but would like to hear some feedback..
-
Let me know if you find something that works for you with this pole/or if you LIKE the finish/grip on it. I am finding myself completely unable to work with it, after having it for a week. I replaced my chrome X Pole with it.
-
@J9, what didn't u like about it? Was it the finish? Someone was telling me they thought the finish was too matte
-
I definitely want to know how it compares to a lilmynx SS. If it is slicker than that, then wow! My heart goes out to you as a sweaty hand sufferer who flys off poles just by looking at them.

Interesting, CalBear. It is matte, which is quite strange for a pole. It's really difficult to describe…it's not slippery like chrome or polished SS, it is just impossible to hold on to. It is slidy, like a metal slide at the park when you're a kid.
I've never experienced this before on a pole. When I put Itac grip stuff on it, it helps for about five-ten minutes of uninteruppted use and then wears off and starts kind of piling off on your hands. Never used a Lil Mynx SS, I'm now considerinig it, but I don't want a single piece pole 🙁

I am sorry I just need a little clarification…are you saying the Stainless Steel X pole is kind of a brushed stainless steel?
-
You should tell x pole your concerns. If you cannot stay on the pole, it is going to be a problem for a lot of girls, and they will want to know about it.

I had no idea they’d finally come out with a stainless model. I know some people have trouble with grip on stainless, but for me it is amazingly grippy. I just want to chime in another voice that you shouldn’t listen to what people tell you about stainless being least grippy and brass being most grippy. It really does depend on your individual needs, and you’ll never know until you try. I have TERRIBLE grip on chrome-it’s actually the worst for me. I assumed stainless would be impossible. The first time I tried one at a studio, I couldn’t even believe the difference. It felt like my frustrations had been lifted. I was so frustrated with grip issues, and it felt amazing to know it wasn’t me.

@poledanceromance–yes, I agree with you, to an extent. I have heard different things from different people as to the grip factor in different metals. At this time, however, I do believe that even the people at X Pole say that THEIR stainless has less grip (than their chrome). It is kind of a weird texture, yes, sort of similar to a very, very, very fine grained brushed steel, though I feel like that's inaccurate to say, somehow. The "slide" thing is the best analogy so far.
Normally though, I think polished stainless and chrome are fairly similar in their grip and people tend to have differing opinions. I have never heard anyone say that there is a metal with better grip and less slip than true brass.
Everyone, thanks for your responses 🙂

I actually talked to someone once who hated brass and couldn't hold onto it at all. Just as there are plenty who do not feel they can grip on titanium despite it being considered a better grip than chrome or ss. It really comes down to each persons' body chemistry. Just as we all prefer to use different grip aids as some work for us and some dont but will work for someone else.
There are also different grades of stainless. It depends on the finish and also is affected by the amount of nickel used in the ss pole. Some are satin finish as well.
I have a terrible time gripping the PS multi-piece pole but I love the grip on my Poledanzer ss poles and feel it's similar to my chrome poles.
-
For me, and I've only been on a SS and TG, but htey both feel the same warm, so I gave up on grip aids.
I wish I could see what you are talking about. Pics??????????
-
Sure! Okay…pics! So far, in pics it looks sort of like a darker chrome. I think the bottom plate might be chrome, so you might be able to compare, but I'm not sure if it'll show. I'll add pics to my flickr in about an hour 😀

Hi again! So I took some pictures, here are two of the best ones, on my flickr site 🙂 the rest of the photos are weird stuff, so you don't have to look at that https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Well not "weird" stuff, but random 🙂 sorry for the double post….ahhhhhhh.
-
It looks like a non shiny lilmynx…kinda.
Have you called x pole and told them about the problem?
-
I called Xpole and they said the brass ones were also the matte finish. If anyone has one and wants to give feedback please do, I know this is the SS thread so feel free to PM me if you don't want to highjack…I don't mean to highjack, it's kinda the same topic…

There was a whole thread about the new brass ones being slippery too:
