This video has been out for a while, yet I haven’t seen ANYONE doing JK’s tricks.

I think it’s just something you watch and ga-ga at.

I really want this DVD too however it is put out by the same people who put out Shawn Francis Lee’s stuff, so frankly I am worried about actually getting it.

    Has anyone received this DVD?

Funny you should post this.. I Ordered this in video in Feb 2nd, 2010 of this year, and i JUST RECVD IT on June 7th, 2010.
I had to email, and email and email and I kept getting an automated response saying it would shiip within 4-6 weeks. Finally recvd email back stating they had a family emergency and was out of town and when she returned would ship another out and let me know by Friday.
2 Friday’s go by nothing, i email again and recvd notificaiton that it would be sent out again by the end of the week, sooooooooo like I said I finaly recvd it on June 7, 2010

I ordered the Shawn Francis Lee one, and it took a looonnnngggg time to get it, after I started emailing that I was gonna start posting bad stuff about them, they finally sent it to me. My Friend ordered the JK Defies Gravity, MONTHS AGO, and still hasn’t received it. I know she has sent email after email, and I believe they have responded a time or two that it ship shortly. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, if you ask me.

It’s a pretty decent video, not of the highest quality (you can see the camera man in the mirror), but I felt it was worth the $. She covers her signature tricks and I found that all but 4 were extemely difficult for me because my body holds me back. She has extreme hip flexor stength and superior hip and hamstring flexibility. I don’t feel that her explanations are going to help you get her tricks, it’s going to be the ability of your body to allow you to do her tricks. Do these 2 tests.

    1. Sit on the floor in front of your pole with your back to it. Open your legs into a wide V. Now lift your legs up – keep them straight – and see if they will go close to or past your ears. Can you do it?? Congrats, now you can do JK’s "one-handed flying" spins!!!

    2. Face your pole and grip it with hands in front of your chest. Now lift your right leg up and place it on the pole toward the ceiling – in a full on center split. If you can do that, then you can do her "spinning front splits" and "straddle split mount".

I guess what I’m saying is that the video itself it not going to teach you how to do her tricks if you can’t physically get your body to play along. Her instruction isn’t the magic trick. I have every pole video under the sun, and this one is my most frustrating because I can’t do everything on it.

She teaches the pretzel but calls it the ‘gazelle’. I can do that one!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif She also teaches a cool spin – a crouch into a scorpio. I can do that one too!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_joker.gif Then she teaches a handspring – got that! She also does a front hook spin to a back hook spin – piece of cake!!! Shoulder mount – easy.

So there is some easy stuff on there and some really difficult stuff too. Hope this helped!

Angel is absolutely right about this DVD. If you are not flexible or advanced enough with your grip and momentum control, then you are not ready for this DVD. Out of all of the Pole Instructional DVDs that I own, I must admit that the production quality of JK’s DVD is the poorest. I still love the DVD though, and hope to be able to do all of her moves one day! Like Angel said, there are a few moves that are possible, but there are a lot of them that seem impossible! I almost feel as if this DVD is on the level of Pantera’s DVD, where you just want to watch it for the awesomeness, but not necessarily be able to mimmic all of the tricks.

If I would have known you wanted to see it I could have brought my copy up with me then you could have just sent it back or brought it back to me at pole jam.

I have had this dvd about a year, and I want the Slink Slide and Melt one too, but the website didn’t respond when I tried to buy it, so I didn’t try again, also as everyone was having trouble with it coming through. I agree some of the tricks are doable depending on your level, and the harderones are on the level of Panteras 101dvd. I was dissapointed with the quality as it is cheaply made considering I paid almost £25 for it. Its worth a watch defo, my faves are Jamillas Art of Pole, but am on the lookout for any new dvds if anyone can recommend any? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif

I also received this DVD a few months after I ordered it, in 2009. I agree that it’s mostly for ‘aww’-ing at, and I agree that you need exceptional physical strength and flexibility to do all of her moves. It’s a lovely DVD. She describes what moves you need to have solid before you attempt each of her moves. Some of them are standard, like the pretzel spin, superman, and handspring, but her real signature moves are also broken down fairly well.

That being said, I haven’t actually been able to do any of her signature moves, mostly because I haven’t made a good attempt. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif I forgot I had the DVD for a while, and I have a lot more strength and flexibility since the last time I watched it, so I suppose if I tried it now I’d have better luck.

My boss ordered the DVD over a year and a half ago…  STILL have not received the DVD… soooo dissappointed, even after numerous emails and a promise from them that they will ship…still nothing… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif

hmmm I had no problem getting it I preordered it the minute it went up for sale and it shipped on the day it said it would. Now if only it was so easy to do the tricks, but I knew going in I wouldn't be able to do most of it but I'm a pole DVD junkie.
