40mm X-Pole
Posted by Riddleboxxy on December 27, 2011 at 9:25 pmHey Veeners:) I got an email from XPole recently about their new 40mm poles. I’m curious, these ARE in the US, yes? I’m thinking of gettingo one.. But I was wondering if anyone had one of gets one sometime in the future, if they could post a picture? I’d like to see how different it is compared to a 45. Thanks:)

Hey Riddle! I know xpole has their poles made in China (not sure if that was what you mean by “they ARE in the us”) if you wanted brass, xpole only coats their poles with a brass finish.
Platinum Stages is U.S. made and is genuine brass (not coated) they just came out with a 38mm too and also have 45 and 50mm.. Hope I could help… 🙂 happy new years hun! -
From my understanding xpole’s brass poles are not 100% brass. Brass can be a coating for stainless steel, aluminum, iron, copper, regular steel, and many other metals… Brass is very durable and extends the life of whatever metal its covering… Brass in its form alone, is a mixture of copper and zinc. That is why a pure brass pole is better than a “plated” brass pole (P.S. vs. Xpole) because like any other coated metal, it will eventually wear off… It may take years for a brass coated pole to start wearing down, but why not just invest in a pure brass pole..?. Many things are “coated” with brass. For example- chains on some purses can be coated with brass,- wires for air condition units, different screws and hardware… The list goes on

XPole brass are not coated however I believe that they may have a steel core for extra support. Brass is a very soft metal so for XPole to be able to use their x joint technology and also have an adjustable pole it cannot be "all brass". Even Platinum Stages brass pole is partially steel on the inside.

I believe these are in Ireland now. SO excited. I'm going to get one once I get the all clear from the doc to keep practicing. Hooray!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I forgot to add that chemgoddess. 🙂 you are right about the steel core… What I meant to say that with xpole brass the coating is usually only an 1/8 inch thick as where anything more than not is not considered a coating

Brass is an alloy– a combination of primarily copper and zinc. There is no set proportion for these metals, and there is no such thing as "pure brass"– It's like saying "pure grey" or "pure combination". Xpole brass poles are brass through and through; the reason why they are different from PS brass is that they use a different proportion of copper and zinc, and they use a different level of polishing as well. PS uses a combo that results in a softer alloy (as does poledanzer) than xpole, so they use a steel core.
I'm sorry to be rude but i'm not sure where people are getting their information; i've seen a lot of blatantly WRONG "information" posted about poles and it's really frustrating. a lot of peple read these forums and rely on this information to guide their purchase of a $300+ item, and it doesn't help anyone to spread incorrect statements. it's important that we share opinions if that is what is called for– which pole you prefer is entirely up to you and you can say what you feel. but if you aren't sure, please think twice before you post; it results in confusion.

I need to calirfy that Platinum Stages uses only real, genuine brass and we do not line our brass poles with steel nor do we use a steel core.
Other companies may use brass plating and other metals, but we do not. We use only real, genuine brass and have been for over 10 years.
I will be posting a picture of the cross section of our brass poles so you can see that we have no steel lining.

The 40mm are being sold here in the us..they just started selling them..and xpole is titanium gold plated..it is not brass @ all..it is a coating that is electrically charged to simulate the grip of brass..if u want a brass pole, get brass, there is nothing like a REAL brass pole..

sorry, haha i was bitching about people posting wrong info and my post was super unclear– POLEDANZER brass poles ship with a steel core.
-
Thanks Platinum Stages for validating that yall’s poles are made of “pure brass” with no steel core. I orginally thought there was no steel core in P.S.brass poles, but then wasnt a 100% sure so i assumed there was a steel core after reading others comments. Always go with first instincts from first hand knowledge. Thanks again for the clarification

Hi Riddle, to answer the question you asked…… I would contact Xpole they should be able to give you more info on the availability of the new 40mm. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Veena, in your experience would it be difficult to dance on a 40mm when I'm used to a 50mm?. I find 50mm is very big (though I'm very small myself).
-
Polefairy, I have never used a 40mm, but I have used a smaller 38 and liked it. There's some adjustment when performing some leg grips (not all) things like the adv Ballerina are much easier on a smaller pole! I really never use my 50mm poles anymore. I plan on getting the 40mm at some point. I think you would like it.

Riddle – I called x pole last week about this and they said they would be getting them in a week, so they should have them by now. They will be the same price as the other chrome x perts.

Brilliant, thank you! Will let you know how it is if I do get one. Fingers crossed for Taxback in Feb! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I always giggle when people refer to "real" or "genuine" brass…as if any of the pole companies use "fake" brass?
Funny too that I was told that a brass pole was too soft to use on it's own without a steel reinforcement…which is why my brass PS pole snapped in half 3 days after I got it with my original stage pole and I was told over the phone that I should never have ordered it without the reinforced lining as "everyone" knows brass is too soft to be used at that height on a stage pole…not sure though why it was sold that way .
Anyway…the original question was about the 40mm pole – they are due in either this week or next from what I was told. The difference in size is about 1/4 inch as the 45mm is approx 1.77 inches and the 40 is 1.57 inches.

I said real because some people think the xpole tg is brass..when it isn’t brass at all…or brass plated..I consider that not real brass..to me a REAL brass pole is just brass, not plated, the club quality poles..not saying there is fake brass, but there is brass like,tg, poles out there…so I guess that could b considered fake brass..
-
I would not consider titanium fake brass and XPole has never tried to pass it off as brass. It's titanium and that's all it's ever been presented as.
The brass on the brass XPole is real and it is genuine. And as proven poles that are not steal lined are not as sturdy. Just like my "real genuine" brass pole from PS as you can see here 3 days after I got it:

I wasn’t saying that xpole was passing it off as brass…and I haven’t seen a xpole with genuine brass..??? Want a brass thates y I ask…but some consider it a brass…or fake brass…not arguing with you, just saying..
