URGENT! Need help ordering pole today

I have fairly high ceiling 10' 6. They are valted ceilings but there is a flat part in bet the vault so i assume I can put the plate on the flat part.I was all set to order the xpole but I don't have a ladder and will have to remove my pole everday as I don't feel like explaining to my kids. Should I go with a Platinum Stages pole instead since it is bottom loading. Does that mean that I will be able to install without a ladder?? New to this all just anxious to order. Please help.

If you are looking to take your pole up and down frequently, I believe the lil minx is your best bet because once you have the hook in the ceiling you can just pop it in and out. X-pole and platinum stages will both require more work.

Thanks for responding!! Is the lil minx of the same quality as xpole? Also, does that mean i'll have to drill holes in my ceiling and it won't technically be portable any more? 🤔

Awww you have to take it down everyday!! Bummer. I agree with Fleur, A lil mynx is your best bet if you want a tall pole to go up and down fast. Just remember that you wont be able to move the pole to another location because it will be cut to fix your ceiling. If you really want an X pole (which is my fav because you can adjust the height and I love the quality)you could always just leave the pole pieces together and then all you have to do is screw the dome back against the ceiling. I have a nice super light weight latter I use for my 9ft and 12ft poles. They have come in really handy for things around the house that aren't pole related. 😀

Something that should be mentioned... in case you do decide to go with a pressure mounted pole like X-Pole... is that just because there is a flat part in the ceiling doesn't necessarily mean there are any useful joists running through it. Vaulted ceilings can be funny that way. Before you order, you should confirm you have a solid spot to work with in the flat portion that will be large enough for the ceiling plate.

Thanks for the replies. 🥂 You guys are the best. I guess I can't order my pole today now that I have to borrow a ladder from someone to make sure there is a joist in my ceiling. 🙁 This really sucks. I don't really want a stationary pole because my room is built different were there is a low ceiling in one part of my room then it opens up to a vaulted ceiling. I was thinking i can mount the pole to the lower ceiling when in the beginning to practice the basic moves then move to the heigher ceiling when i want to start the climbs and inverts. It sucks that I have to take it down everyday because my room is huge, its actually larger than my family room and provides plenty of dance space. Maybe I can get the xpole and leave the pole together connected like Veena suggested and just connect the ceiling part everyday. How long will it take me to put together if I went that route? Why does this have to be so complicated I'm ready to order NOW!!! 😢

Two more questions, I promise...well for now anyway. 😀 How long does it take to put an xpole together once you get over the learning curve? Also, should i get a 45mm since i'm a beginner as I hear its easier to learn on. Also, I see that some of the girls who have 50 mm poles are going to 45mm, is that the reason?

Well if you leave the pieces together, putting up the pole takes under 5mins for me. I mark and X on my ceiling so I know where the joist is, then I don't have to try to find it every time. If you take the pole totally apart I would say its about 10mins to put if once you know what your doing. I have both a 45 amd 50 X. The standard size (right now) for competitions and studios is the 50. So if you want to dance outside of your home 50 is the best bet, because once you can dance on the larger 50 its really easy to transition over to a smaller 45. If your getting the pole just for fun then the 45 is a bit easier, just remember move to a larger pole will be a challenge! 🌸

PS makes a removeable pole with a vaulted ceiling adapter. I find the PS poles are way easier to erect than the Xpole because the top plate is much lighter and smaller. The overall quality is about the same. I have never worked with Lil Minx but I have heard of the bolt eating through the joist over time, and I also heard their stainless steel is not as grippy as PS stainless or Xpole's chrome. If I were you, I'd go for the PS with a ceiling adapter, that way you would have a lot more freedom on where to place it in your room. You are so lucky to have such high ceilings!

When I read this post I thought I had unknowingly posted it because I'm having this same exact issue!!!! I originally was going to get the lil mynx pole, I talked to the customer service people and they said my only option would be a custom 10'8" solid pole with vaulted ceiling mount. Thay quoted this around $450....yea. So then I discovered Platinum stages poles. I think I'm gonna be going with the platinum stages multi piece removable pole and just buy extentions for it. I still need to find where my joists are... And I need my boyfriend to get the idea of building a pole himself out of his head!!! Lol! Well good luck with your decision!! <3 voodoochild

LOL. That is so funny. My dilema continues. There was good news and bad neI finally got a ladder and there is a joist in the flat part of my vaulted ceiling BUT its only 11" wide. Therefore, the xpole is out of the question. 😮( And I really wanted an xpole. So i went to platium stages and called them and they said their dome top is 10" wide great unfortunately they are more expensive. And I wanted to get the 45mm and they don't have it in stock yet, won't be for a couple of Weeks. 😲 Are you serious, who can wait that long. I need this pole like yesterday. They I also hear they're poles are not as sticky as xpole so, i have a more slippery bigger pole to learn on and I'm just a beginner. This is pure torture. WHY!. I don't know what to do but I need to make an executive decision TODAY! I was thinking about the Kendra pole because the top dome is smaller but it doesn't spin and it has that cut out thingy on the bottom. WHY does this have to be so complicated. WHat should I do???

Does it have to be a multi piece? PS makes a one piece skinny removeable pole, in addition to the new extreme multi piece poles. Also, check out Craigslist or Ebay for used poles. I see used ones for pretty cheap on sale from time to time.

yes, i was looking at the extreme multi piece removable pole. I did check craigslist and I didn't see anything for my area. I guess i would want multipiece as i want it to be portable. Maybe I'm asking for too much. I dunno. I never knew it would be so complicated. Thank you all for your input and suggestions, I really appreciate it! 🙂

I would just buy the PS pole new, I know its cheaper to do used but....and the PS stainless steal poles will become grippy over time. I just don't have the patients for that so thats why I like the grip of Chrome. YOu can still work on stretching, floor moves and strength work while you wait for you pole!! 😀

I just want to thank you guys for all your help. I finally ordered my pole today. 🥂 I went with the Kendra pole as it fit almost all my needs (minus the spin). It has the smaller top dome which will fit in my vault and is bottom loading for ease of set up with out having to get on a ladder everyday. I was going to go with 45mm so that isn't a problem. All that considered, I'm feeling a bit of buyers remorse right now, but I'm sure that will go away once the pole comes. I really wanted the spin but reasoned with myself, that I get dizzy really easy and hate spinning mechanism so it's probably best. I was going to get the PS extreme but it would have cost over $400 and I just couldn't rationalize paying that much for a pole after only taking one pole class and with xmas around the corner. I decided that if I absolutely MUST get a spin I will do that later after I have perfected the art of pole. Off to stalk the thread for moves I can practice as I impatiently await the arrival of my pole. 🤸

I know what you feel girlie 😛 i was just like that a few weeks ago and finally ordered on Monday!! Bad news is now I have to wait 11 days 🙁 I got the 45mm Chrome from XPole. I dont have the problem that you girls have because my house is solid concrete with tile floors *wide grin followed by a raspberry* 9' ceilings (ok ok now im just teasing sorry). But congrats on the new acquisition!!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I KNOW I will enjoy mine. 😂 😂

I contacted the USPDF and they said they use a 45mm as their standard.

Really? I thought 50mm was the standard. I just wanted 45mm because i heard it was easier and I have no ambition to ever compete. I just hope I can climb easily on the 45mm as my ceiling is fairly high (over 10 1/2) and I plan on climbing every bit of it. 😂
