Well said pole-twista, I would love to have you in my club! I want to mention though, that sometimes it is the guys that are boring as well. Boys are so stupid. I always try to perform to the crowd, and I enjoy what I do, but it's so hard really getting into it if the guys don't even care. I smile and try to look like I'm having fun anyway, but half of my show is kind of playing it up to the audience and if they're not particularly interested it's so hard. It feels so stupid smiling at nothing, or putting on a whole show when people aren't paying much attention. It is the dancers job to get their attention and keep it, but I have to make eye contact to do that and sometimes guys just want to sit there and stare into space looking grumpy. I like to give these boys wedgies... they don't like that at all! 😉 I know exactly what you mean though... my best trick on stage is to make eye contact with the guys and to smile - you can't just smile though, you have to genuinely make yourself have fun or it looks fake. Not all the girls do it, and they get the guys who just want tits and ass for small amounts of money and time. Because I act like a lunatic, I get the ones that want to chill out and have fun for hours. Don't tell the other girls, that's my best kept secret 😂
lol exactly! 🥂 me i can def make eye contact 😲 and really make it a sort of interactive experience for guy/audience, but if the person/people are'nt makin me feel it I just close my eyes and kind of get in my own world 🌈 you'll probably notice I have my eyes closed at points (or at lengths) in certain videos bc I was really into the song I almost always dance w eyes closed when I go clubbing ( once I am comfortable in my spot and a good song comes on) I went once w friends and we we're all dancing in a sort of small semi circle my friend kind of swishes her hips side to side to the floor (like sort of doing a "sexy" squat w hips ) she was so fatigued by then she couldnt straighten back up and she fell backwards 😳 the guys she was dancing w asks ifs she needs a hand shes all aggravated 😈 shes like ya! he's all What?!" she says ya like 4 times and he's such a dunce he just keeps yelling that he can't hear her while she's laying there 😕 I am literally not a foot away from her and I see none of this 😎 👸 ☀️ my eyes are closed I;m jammin lost in my own zone 😬 🌈 lol it was just so funny bc later when the song had ended I looked at 1 of the girls and was like wheres "lisa" and there like " oh ..well she fell and she was trying to ask you to help her up but you were just so not paying attention .." maybe you had to be there... 🤔 ayway i hope i get the chance to dance in a club at some point

HaHa! Kerrie, your original post cracked me up! Your parents sound fun. At least they are willing to discuss it with you & listen to what you have to say. I just got my pole last month, but was very interrested in pole dancing/fitness for a long time prior to that. The first person I ever saw really "work a pole" was a friend of mine who had started dancing at a strip club. She was like a little monkey! I was amazed at how effortlessly she she would climb, spin, flip, etc. But, she is one of VERY FEW exotic dancers that I have seen actually do so. Like many of the ladies have said, the majority of dancers in my area hardly pay attention to the pole & just look bored. Those are most likely the ones that are there for all the wrong reasons. Something else I realized when I spent months on YouTube & the web researching pole dance/fitness: it is much more popular & better understood/accepted overseas. Unfortunately, in America, we tend to attach negativity to nudity, the naked bady, & anything sexual. Not always, but most of the time. I just find that other countries have a much more open-minded attitude towards the human body as an art form & not just a sex object. In America, as soon as you say "pole", people think strip-club & start thinking negative thoughts. It's sad that it has to be that way. Have you thought about asking your parents to try a few things? I now it may sound a little silly/crazy, but it may help them better understand the fitness part of it. I can't tell you how many of my friends have tried my pole out & been like, "That is waaay to hard!" Show them a few moves & then let them try. I bet they think differently! LOL 🫡 As far as the "sexy" side of it, I really think pole dancing is no different than any other dance form: you learn how & then you make it your own. You can teach any style of dance (ballet, salsa, line dance, hip-hop, whatever) to a group of people, & then have them each do it on their own, & everyone is going to have their own "style". Of course pole dancing can be sexy! But it can also be extremely gymnastic. It just depends on you & what mood you are in when you get on the pole. I would just stress to them your reasons for doing it. Look up "chinese pole" on YouTube. Also, show them Cirque du Soleil videos. I'm not certain on this, but I believe someone told me that one of the winners of Miss Pole Dance Australia (again, I may have the details wrong) was signed to perform with Cirque du Soleil. I really think the bottom line is that pole dancing is like anything else you do in life: It is what you make of it. You get out of it what you put in. I'm sure once you put the pole up & they see how much time & effort you put into practicing & improving your skills, they will understand & be more supportive. But save the blinky shoes for practices when they aren't home! LOL 😂 I'm sure it will work out for the best since your parents seem to be very cool people. Best wishes! ~Christa

Great post Christa I like to give these boys wedgies... they don't like that at all! Neke, again, you slay me with you humour! 😂 😂
RoxyPink ·
they deserve atomic wedgies if they are staring out into space while you are dancing....I think your fantastic and you have way more balls than me....that being said...I've always been a closet dancer/stripper ( I personally don't mind the term and no offense to those that do). If I had the body I did before I had kids I would so be on stage! You rock that pole girl!! 😀

thats too bad basically i think i would say (and this is just me ) something to the effect of "mom i appreciate your concern (even if its really a pain in the ass) but what I would appreciate more is if you respected my desicions I am a grown woman w a husband and what goes on behind closed doors is, no disrespect, but no ones buisness i did alot of research into pole dance (even if you didnt) and I found it to be a unique way of getting fit and having fun w/o having to leave home it has been featured on repected shows such as oprah and cnn it is a form of gymnastics w a vertical bar why is a beautiful and gracful sport as long as the bar is paralell (gymnastics/ballet) but once its vertical it automatically becomes a problem? if you wish to discuss this further i would be glad to have an informed and mature discussion i have personally found pole dancing to have made me physically stronger, more flexible, improved my balance and coodination, upped my confidence, and is a great way for me to enjoy my self it is something i do for my own personal benefit and not to please others if after you have done a little research or allowed me to share the info i have with you and calmly talking about our feelings on the subject, if you still find it distastful i will have to respect your feelings on the subject and you mine loving each other means sometimes having to agree to disagree 📚 the end.
Irrespective of being married and having kids and a house and a mortgage ("death grip" in french, I think that's too cute) you are an adult women who is capable of making her own decisions and stuff like that. Ergo, as someone who is over 18 she should just keep her venomous comments to herself. Unfortunately, she sounds like she's not the kind of person you could teach a couple of basic spins to show her that it's not all about sex. Failing that, show her this amazing tango http://www.facebook.com/ext/share.php?sid=47392654283&h=IQsI2&u=KgHy1 it's on the pole for the Grimaldi family in Monaco and is on a pole. Tell her you found an amazing tango you'd like to share. When she's saying it's incredible etc, point out that that is what you do. Ensure you have the camera ready for her reaction... I wouldn't show my mother what I do on the pole, she'd comment on cellulite and anything else that wobbles, my mother in law is a different kettle of fish - she'd love it and would enjoy the performance.

What are they wearing??? 😲 There's no way those can be "normal" pants otherwise they'd be on their bottom in a heartbeat! Are they some kind of leather or pvc??? I gotta get me some of them...) 📚
Well, if it's any consolation,I'm 48 years old, married, with a son in college... ..and I still deal with an overbearing, difficult parent who criticises and makes unwelcome judgments and criticisms of my life, choices, and decisions. She's 80 years old now and age has not yet tempered her opinons one bit! One thing I will say, though: posting videos of yourself (especially as that "middle aged bald guy who pole dances") on You-Tube will toughen up your ability to weather criticism very quickly. I make it a point never to block or respond harshly to any comment--no matter how moronic, nasty, homphobic, or idiotic it is. It's had the remarkable effect of making me more calm in my real day-to-day life. I once read an article by a retired stripper (ooops, exotic dancer, Veena) who became a corporate executive. People would ask her if she got nervous doing seminars and presentations in front of a roomful of mostly male executives. She responded that after dancing naked in front of hundreds of spectators night after night, there wasn't anything going on in a corporate conference room that she was afraid of! Joel
thanks poledancefan! i saw your youtube videos when i first started to take classes and they were really inspiring! i was like if he can do it, i can! (no offense intended) just that if a man, nonetheless older, can do it.....why not me? and yes i agree that criticism will only make you stronger! thanks joel!!! =)
i tht this would be a good article to share w/skeptics 🙂 http://news.softpedia.com/news/Pole-Dancing-More-Fitness-Than-Erotic-54428.shtml Pole Dancing: More Fitness than Eroticism By Stefan Anitei, Science Editor, 10th of May 2007 Pole dancing is associated just with sexuality and striptease clubs, but imagine that after a long night of teasing, strutting and gyrating, the 650 muscles employed to do this will soar like after a hard fitness training. This fortifies them all, from abdominals to thighs and arms. After years of being confined to dimly lit strip clubs during the twilight hours, pole dancing recently writhed its way into the mainstream as a bonafide fitness trend. In fact, pole dancing helps women feel more confident about their bodies while burning calories and defying gravity. "There are a lot of people about who need more confidence and pole dancing does that." explained one instructor. Now everyone from Cameron Diaz to Natalie Portman and Michele Rodriguez is exercising this. But not only Hollywood is seduced by pole dancing's fat-burning benefits: Australia, Great Britain and Canada host "Miss Pole Dancer" competitions, in which the contestants wear actual clothing on! A British school offers its graduates diplomas in pole dancing. Basically, pole dancing is gymnastics cubed. A class is a combination of aerobic activity and striptease moves, like spinning and dancing. The pole is a prop, much like a step used in aerobics or an exercise ball used for balance and isolation. The workout is more gymnastic and aerobic than erotic. "It is an extremely physical challenge, but it's still feminine and graceful. Pole dancing is a mixture of dance, weight lifting, yoga and Pilates. It's a workout for your entire body," said Megan Ryan, a pole dancing instructor from Philadelphia. ''We provide a place for women to come and feel good about themselves, to develop their self-esteem,'' said Terri Kerr, former gymnast, who owns a pole dancing club in Toronto. "This is a workout, not stripper training," explained owner Lisa Peklo, another club owner from Washington, D.C., and also a certified personal trainer, a graduate of Virginia Tech, with a degree in exercise science, and self-taught in this particular genre of exercise.
