To Youtube or not??

Hi everyone!! I have been going back and forth on whether to post vids on youtube for a long time now lol. I upload them on yt but keep them private and only give the links out to friends and family and then delete the vids after a while. It wasn't long ago that I started uploading vids here on SV and you guys are all sooo great!! I love it here and feel like we all have the same views and things in common. No one here is going to make some nasty remark or say how they got their jolly's off while watching me. I love it here and feel so comfortable but youtube is kinda out of my comfort zone b/c the auidence can be anyone. Anyways I was curious to hear from those of you who do youtube ur vids, what you think of it and what kind of experience it's been for you. Also is there anyone else who is on the fence with this?? I had a few friends tell me that since yt has been such an insiration for me to learn from that I can "give back" by showing my own progress, still apprehensive....feedback anyone??

Since you're asking about other people who are on the fence .... I don't put my videos on YouTube either. I worked at a club for a long time, so I saw dancing as very private. I'm in school and just finished job searching, so I didn't want to explain myself. It's never bothered me until recently. I tried to apply to APFA and they asked for my YouTube videos before they even gave me an application, "since they have never heard of me". Hmmm. That was the first time I gave posting videos any serious thought. I could go on, but I don't think you owe anything back to the people you have learned from ... at least, not by posting videos. By all means, tell them you love them, take their workshops, buy their DVDs! But you don't need to post videos publicly unless YOU want to. :)

Youtube is totally out of my comfort zone. I get wonderful encouragement, support and have great fun here and don't want to ruin that with any negativity of my pole journey on youtube. I have uploaded a couple of videos to youtube but under private so a friend could see but she doesn't have youtube account. It was easier to upload to facebook and only allow those who wanted to see what I do for poling. I still use youtube for variation ideas and to see many of the great polers who are not on sv. I give feedback as to how wonderful and inspiring they are. Like blondie said, do it only if you want to and for your reasons.

Im right now trying to decide wether to upload vids onto youtube too! Im a school teacher, so if someone from the education department/colleague/employer saw the vids there would be consequences, but I really want to get involved in the online youtube poling community and start networking.... So Im trying to come up with a unique alias, and Im going to choose my videos carefully - make sure its dark enough or blurry enough that my face can't be recognised etc. Yeah im a little nervous about getting unwanted remarks from jerks who r just out to get their socks off, but you can always delete those comments right? It would be just such a thrill to know while im watching my pole idol's vids, they can be watching mine too and possibly giving feedback etc. I dunno.... Its up to you, just make sure it cant be linked to you in any personal way - Im not even going to tell my supportive friends about my youtube account, because I know they may (meaning well) post a link to it on facebook or something and then suddenly my whole community knows its me. :P Incognito all the way for me :)

i started posting videos on youtube only a few weeks ago. i didn´t get any bad comments yet. i decided not to upload the videos in which i only wear a bikini, just share them with my veeners =) and if you´re still scared, but want to get a bigger audience, you could also just upload trick videos which are maybe less sexy. I think you won´t get any bad comments then. for me it was also a great possibility to show my friends my pole passion. some already knew that i´m poling but they never saw it and as i moved last year, i now still can show it them through my vids. and of course you always have the freedom to remove your videos again as you said, if you start feeling uncomfortable with having them on youtube!

Thanks everyone for your input 😀 You all have some great points and have def made me look at it from the stand point that IF I AM uncomfortable with it than why do it. It's also nice to see I wasn't the only one who was on the fence with the issue lol I guess it's all about our own indiviadual preferenaces and level of comfotability. For those who do rock the pole on Youtube, I think ur all great and so inspiring ❤️ For now, I think Imma stay in my comfort zone here on SV, maybe one day when I get more tricks under my belt I'll post on youtube so it's doesn't have to be all sexy like Emotioncatcher suggested. I've posted publicly on YouTube for over a year and just recently decided to go private for the time being. My pole buddies are really the only positive or useful feedback I've ever received so I figure "What other purpose do I have for posting this stuff?". Initially I had hoped that it may help or inspire others to pole, but all it really does on YouTube is attract a bunch of goobers, pervs, and jealous mean-spirited b*tches. Comments range from unrequited love, to obsessive pervy morons that are sometimes kinda scary, theres ALWAYS people who call me fat and/or ugly in some manner, stupid metalheads who like to inform me that I "can't possibly understand how meaningful this song is", and other useless twits who just hit the "dislike"-button without offering any constructive criticism to support it. Also, the general YouTube public tends to comment on my least favorite videos and they seldom have anything interesting or helpful to say. So...I put an end to sharing publicly on YouTube for now. I really had wanted to inspire others to pole and maybe help them on their own journeys, but I guess I'm either not that good yet or people just don't like or understand my style. Idk. I was also kind of looking for a more objective point of view...like...people on SV are so nice and supportive, but I KNOW for a fact I'm not very good yet and my buddies don't want to tell me otherwise. So, sometimes I need more constructive (not malicious) criticism in order to find out what I'm doing wrong in order to progress. I've found that YouTube is most definitely not the platform to seek that kind of advice. It all depends on your own purpose for going public on YouTube. You may really have something special to offer to the YouTube pole community that people will enjoy. Tutorials on moves are often welcomed w/ open-arms because it's hard to find free pole lessons. Still, people are very petty and critical and mean so...that's something you end up having to deal with. The more popular your vid the more comments and often you'll receive more negative than positive because there's more jerks than there are friendly people in the world in general. (especially when they can anonymously hide behind a keyboard, lol) I'd say, give it a try for a month if you're really curious and just set the video comment options to require your approval before it's posted. You may be surprised at the responses you get and which videos of yours attract the most attention. ;) ~*Serzi

I post on youtube because I'm a plus sized pole dancer and at the time, there weren't as many of us on youtube... so I was attempting to be encouraging. But, the more viewers you get, the more negative comments you end up getting, and while I LOVE making snarkier comments, the time I take to put idiots in their place could be time working on better things. And before someone says, "Don't feed the trolls".. I can't help it. I like to keep my claws sharp.

I personally upload most of my vids to both facebook and youtube. I haven't had any problems, I get comments from other polers, and sometimes non-pole friends too. I have never had anybody say anything mean or nasty yet, but I expect to at some point. As far as the creepy guys who are just out to oogle, I don't post anything even remotely sexy. For example, I posted a booty bouncing video here on Veena a couple weeks ago, that one will not be going public! LOL Other than that, I don't worry about what anyone else thinks. I mean, some guys think that little girls doing gymnastics are hot, so there opinion really doesn't mean anything to me. If they think I'm hot I really don't care. I just make sure there is no way for anyone to find me. I have no contact info on either site, not even email. :) Ultimately you have to stick with what makes you comfortable.
