EDIT: that was also meant to say - is the leg thats round the pole pointing down too much? Or is that the right position? (ahh Veena where's the edit button gone? 😲) Thanks peeps!
It looks good to me! If you want to keep up with the move, you might try grabbing your ankle with your hand, rather than the pole (usually called the Advanced Cupid). That may require that you push your hips forward a bit in order to increase your knee grip, and twist your upper body to face the floor a bit. You could also try the Hummingbird--no hands on the pole! That will also require pushing your hips forward more and twisting the upper body. Happy poling!

The top leg positioning will variety slightly from dancer to dancer. Looks good to me. I do not recommend grabbing the ankle.... this can put a lot of stress on the knee. You should be able to hold the position strongly with just the leg insuring your using the Hamstring fully before trying to grab the ankle.
Aha! I wondered why i was struggling with this, body twist will happen next time.
thanks girls! I do like the look of the advanced cupid but if theres a risk of putting too much strain on my knees I don't think I'll do it as my knees are weak as it is :( I've also tried not holding on but found I didn't have enough grip with my leg which was why I though maybe its too low. I will try and though and persevere! 🌸
Instead of grabbing the ankle, you could grab just below the knee (this is actually what I usually end up doing). Way less strain.

Ok out of curiosity... It looks like your bottom foot is positioned with the bottom around the pole, whereas I thought it was supposed to be hooked in front of the pole around your ankle. Anyone know which is correct?
@ Dyvo: The way HannahElizabeth is doing it is the way I generally see, but there is probably no "right" and "wrong." Personally, I put my foot this way for the Star, and bring it forward only if I'm transitioning into a move such as the Box Splits. I've also seen people bring the foot around the back of the pole (so the front of the foot is pressing against the pole) and call it the Knee Swing.
I'm not working on this but just wanted to say the photo looks gorgeous!

Looks great! 🥂 I am also working on the star. I am having a problem with my inside arm (not being able to straighten it fully and getting (stuck) below the knee). I've gotten it a few times, and then other times I can't get it. 🤓
Tarah, I had a few problems in that I was getting my arm stuck too. I found that when inverting, try to make sure you pull up as much as possible so you can get your leg wrapped as high as you can. That way there is room for your leg to slide down a little nearer your hand without restricting your movement

Another tip--push out on with your bottom hand when bringing the lower leg onto the pole. This will push the hooked leg slightly up and/or away from the hand and arm. It'll reduce the potential to get stuck just a bit more!

Any tips on how to push hips forward and I seem to slide alot on this one.
@ Tovah: When I started this move, I felt like I was pushing my hips way forward....but then I'd look in the mirror and I wasn't at all! It might help to watch yourself (or take video and play it back) to see if you're actually pushing as far forward as you think you are. Also, get the back into it. When I push my hips forward, I simultaneously arch my back. Not a huge arch, but enough to feel a stretch in my lower stomach and feel like my upper body moves a bit back.
