very interesting thread, and great results ladies! My front to back splits (like what chem was doing) are pretty good. If warmed up usually I can get all the way to the floor unless my right hip is acting up. Cold I can get within a few inches of the floor. My middle splits....who am I kidding WHAT middle splits, the don't exhist. 🙄 the backs of my legs are so tight (I'm assuming from years of riding and wearing heels. I need to make this a new goal of mine. and work on it with the girls since they are doing cheerleading classes now. where to start.... 🤔
where to start.... 🤔 Talk to the trainer you have been working with. After each and every session working out STRETCH.

Brilliant thread! 🙂 All your splits progress photos are an inspiration 🙂 I just started taking 2 classes a week at the pole studio I go to. And they only focus on doing stretches for splits. Already seeing progress after 3 weeks 🙂 Now I just need to take a photo of how much I can do now, start stretching everyday at home and be able to do splits! Hopefully before the pole dancing competition im competing in in september

i can do one side more than the other, lol! i can go all the way down with my right leg out in front & only like 3/4 of the way dow with my left leg out front. my center split ( or whatever that one with both legs out) is really sad! lol! i get like 1/2 way down & tip over because i feel like my legs will pop off if i go any lower 😂 & speaking of flexibility, i think i "over did" a back bend earlier 😲 i was watching my video clips earlier & i was like "wow, my back is pretty bendy these days" && now i'm laying in bed with a sore back thinking i was wrong.. oops 😳

Almost there with my middle splits. The side splits are still a long way off. I'm one of those weird ones! 😀 m splits.jpg Mindy yay! that is great!!!!

I am so far off being able to do the splits. Like i have a mile to go LOL I think, next time i practice ill take some photos to motivate me. I am NO where near what you lot are doing though!
All right I'm in...ugh. I'm way off in reaching the ground but accountability is a good thing and it will spur me to stretch more! I'll post some before shots.lol. 🐷
Great job girls! I'm getting SOOO close, but I have to be really warm. I have been practicing splits for so long,i can do a middle when im warmed up but my side 1s are so temprementle,i can do them 1 day then i cant for several weeks,whats that all about, soooo annoying,im doing them most days now,il post some pics when i get ok splits x
OMG! YOU GOT IT!!! YAY for you!...Ran out of battery in my camera today and I wanted to take a picture in yoga class to show my starting point...maybe it's a good thing the battery run out more time to brutalize my poor hamstrings and hips.... 🐷
I have a question about the back leg...should it be pointed to the side or facing the floor? what are some good stretches for the box splits??
I have a question about the back leg...should it be pointed to the side or facing the floor? what are some good stretches for the box splits?? To the side is called jazz splits and the only split you can really do when wearing shoes.
Are the jazz splits more difficult?

DSCF3695.JPG This is where I am today. I started at 19 inches 😮 in my front splits at the end of aug 09. I gave my self a year to get into my front splits. I'm now 2 1/2 inches away 🥂 from achieving my front splits goal. I told myself that if I even get down to 6 inches away, I'd be happy 😛 So i'm actually thrilled to get to this point. 🥂

I got my first split ever today! I have been going to these stretching classes 2 times a week at the pole studio I go to that focus only on stretching for splits. I have been taking those classes for about 2 months except for july. Today I managed to get into a split finally! I was so happy. But then when I tried again I couldn't do it.. ARgghh. But was VERY close to it. Anyways. I just had to tell everyone about this and I feel so accomplished even if I could only do it once 😛 I just hope that I will get better at it and be able to do it always! Not just once. Why are the middle split so much harder ?!

O yay! Joni and Eva, congratulations on your progress! 🥂 🥂 I'm getting close to one of my front splits too, finally! But I was wondering the same thing about the middle splits. Especially since I did have those when I was a kid (back then I couldn't really do the front split though, lol). Anyway, I guess there's nothing I can do but stretch stretch stretch 😀

I could also do the middle splits when I was a kid but not the side splits! :O Is it just a kids thing? 😛 Hehe.
I started pole 14 weeks ago and have decided to try and start working towards the splits sooner rather than later. I've never managed them when I was younger. Below are my splits from today (I only started 3 days ago) after doing half an hour stretches and then 1 hour of pole.
Heya everyone, I'm new here, but really finding this place to be great. It's also helped me progress in my splits alot. My lefts are down to about 2inches now. I'm kinda stuck there though, havent be able to get any flatter in a few weeks 🙁 I'll get some pics uploaded when my camera's fixed 😀 where are all your updated progress pics? its been a few months I hope some of you are down now!

I have always wanted to get into splits but never been able. I got into Battle of the pole recently wich is held on january 22. And splits are required in the routine. So 4 weeks ago I started doing the Splits in 6 weeks program and adding some other stretches and I have made some great progress. I stretch for about 40-60 minutes 6 times a week. I have been sore in my hips and feet almost constantly since I began stretching. 😛 I always forgot to take photos before I Started stretching but here's how far I got last night right after an hour of stretching. 🙂

So after 14 months of 30 min warmup on the eliptical and 45 mins of various split stretches, starting at 19 inches I am now finally flat down in my right front splits and 2-3 inches on my left. 🥂 I have to be very warm though to get into it and it still hurts when I'm down flat 😲 but I can hold it there with no hands for 1 minute. Here is a split pic on the silk but my splits look flatter on the floor. I will need to take a pic on the floor soon.DSCF4500.jpg

I started the 6 weeks splits programme yesterday, but I can't find a measuring tape (how do you measure how far you are from the ground anyway? Do you do it by yourself or does somebody help you?) and the camera I want to use is at my bf house. I'll borrow it Saturday/Sunday, if I remember. I wasn't sore this morning, maybe because I walked for 15minutes after doing the stretches, but it felt harder to do today than it did yesterday. I thought I would try front splits as well and it was like they were killing me. One question: when I do some of the stretches, I feel like I stretched some muscles at the back of my knee as well. Is this normal? I feel it especially when I just did a stretch, get up, start walking and bend my knees. I haven't started poling and won't be starting for a long time so I'm trying to do the little that I can do without a pole.
