I've seen icarus done through twisted ballerina. So I guess from there you just pull the leg up?

That one looks just like a regular ballerina, once foots grabbed, bend the hooked leg?

And a beautiful smile while doing it!

From what I've played with... we have been clumsily getting into it on static via a modified version of what pole dance dictionary calls "mercury". Lean very far forward and making sure your hip/outer thigh is in contact with the pole while still gripping in your knee. Reach around without letting (hardest part) past a figurehead type pose to the other side. Alternately, on spin mode, it's similar to the icarus spin. Other suggestions, because this is totally not pretty?

without letting the knee/hip lose grip. yay proofreading.
Can anyone post a tutorial or any type of vids? That would be really appreciated.

I believe the move you're referring to is known as the icarus which is a spin? Here's a video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6AgGsZpDmA
It's very close Kobajo, good sleuthing. In that vid Danielle is grabbing same side hand to hooked leg. But in the pic, the girl is grabbing same side hand to free leg. My guess is that entry into the move would be the same, but you'd reach further around the pole so the other arm could come behind the pole as well and reach for that free leg.

I think Justine is planning to do a video of how she does it as obviously a lot of people have been asking and she mentioned that she will share after she teaches it at the barcelona pole retreat. That's at the beginning of sept so fingers crossed she will release a video soon after that :)

I see now! Yes, the picture looks almost doable from a ballerina/eagle pose. Interesting. I'm sure with some back flexibility it could be achieved in the same manner as the icarus.
korinne ·
Ballerina would put your inside leg on the wrong side of the pole. :/
