And the first time I saw alethea do a floorwork only routine I about died of WOW. That is not wow....that is wondering if you are still heterosexual 😲 Has anyone else wondered if pole dancing in general doesn't affect our sexual orientation? We spend most of our time being in awe of what another woman's (and I say woman because we just dont' see nearly as many guys doing it) body does and admiring other women that I think we start to become "pole-bi"!!! Or should I say "bi-poler"? 😂

Or should I say "bi-poler"? 😂 I think poling in general opens a lot of sexual awareness period. I am sure that many here used to be very uptight about their bodies, being naked in front of others, touching themselves, etc etc etc. This is the area I think S Factor has really honed in on and why it has such a following. I think it is also one of the reasons so many of us love this so much....it is something in our lives where we can be women and sexy and it is OK.
I remember the first time i was impressed was after my husband went to a strip club (against my wishes) and i was mad at him, and he was trying to tell me how "this girl climbed up the pole upside down" thinking he was making stuff up to keep me pre-occupied from being mad at him - 😂 i looked online and saw my first video it was in black and white titled 'amazing pole dancer' I saw her doing the Caterpillar and was like NO Fing way! She looked strong but she wasnt SUPER buff and thats when i was like...hummm...maybe i can learn too..?

I think she also did a side climb in that one which also impressed me but not as much as the caterpillar climb.

I found the video! It was posted up 3 years ago! WOW. I cannot believe how far pole dancing has come in 3 years! When I first saw this there were hardly any pole videos on youtube. Madelinemodel OMG...I just re-watched that video....HOLY CRAP! 😲 😲

"bi-poler" wahahahahahahahaha that's hilarious!!!!!! first off when i started poling EVERYTHNG was a "wow" move. I couldn't see how any of it was possible! The first moves that really just boggled my mind were the scorpio, CKR and knee hold. I think my most "pole accomplished" moment was when i got the scorpio. I remember thinking "holy crap...I can do the impossible" lmao! That is when I really knew I was hooked!

I'm with you chemgoddess1, the first move that made my jaw drop was the caterpillar climb. I can caterpillar but I have yet to get the climb. It takes strength and balance that I'm still working on.
haha this thread is awesome, and its weird my pole inspiration moves are also everyone elses I saw a USPDF entry video that just A-MAZED me I thought she was like the sexiest woman alive...and her caterpillar climb and teddy made me go..OMG i have to do this...also RG was a really cool looking move I wanted, and Jade too but not until I was into poling a little more. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuXVLdfsvpM this is the video that began the entire obsession for me, then I stumbled on karol, and alethea, and jenyne and was HOOOOKED!
I saw a USPDF entry video that just A-MAZED me I thought she was like the sexiest woman alive... That's Lian Tal, owner of Body and Pole. See the thread on "pole crushes"--meeting her last year and seeing this performance of Control done live firmly cemented her as my crush. She's also *beyond* nice!! Are you coming to USPDF? You can meet her!
Yes I willbe at USPDF and actually I went back and watched the vid when I posted this and was like OMG! haha back in the day i had no idea who she was but I deff know now haha!!

I hope that Karol will not mind me posting this link here, but this is the vid that first made me fall in love with pole-dancing. It is still my favorite pole video of all time and I am forever grateful to have come across REDKE71 by accident. Btw, a few months after I watched Karol's video I also purchased my X-Stage from her!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Da4cjk9mkQ
Inverted crucifix was the first move I saw online, thought was going to take me years... and I set my heart on learning it, and it was actually the first move I did! I taught myself basic invert straight up and made myself take it to an inverted crucifix over a week when I got my pole over uni holidays. Psycho, dangerous, stupid...I know. Don't hurt me! 😛 Then I got obsessed with Aysha and it's taken me 2 years but I finally decided I could and would do it and I've just got the forearm version and not just for two seconds to take a photo! YAY! Then there are the moves I've always and still kind of do think are crazy impossible: Superman, Jade Split and that up pole upside down banana split. Still hate Superman and am almost giving up on making it smooth and consistently mine, but I can Jade (with much effort, and I have no hip contact...what's with that?!) and I can newly banana split! Still can't wrap my head around being upside down and doing a front split on a pole. That's just INSANE! When an instructor said I could probably get into one I said: "No way, that's crazy talk!". I also told her she was bonkers when she said my leg hook was good enough to do a cupid no hands. Ha! Wish I could show her that she was right and I got her 'crazy' suggestions the week after. So tempted to blow all my money on more private lessons to see how much crazy stuff we could do pole jamming. I seriously need more real-time really here pole buddies... or maybe just need to get a life 😛 I am so very straight, but I am not at all ashamed of being bi-poler in the head, pole is HOT!
i LOVED karol's vids when I was beginning...I mean I still DO love them but, I dont know what it was about her vids. Maybe they seemed more real to me than the other 'good' girls who had pro vids, and were in all these competitions with those chicks it just seemed like "Oh, I'd never be able to do that" but karols vids made me think I could do it someday <-- haha I was wrong. It's nuts how much she has improved even, she was like the Goddess of pole to me when I started and you can see how much more polished and perfect everything she does is now VS back then

The first moves that WOWed me were the superman, aysha, and cartwheel mount. 🥂 So happy I can actually do all of those now! LOL.

I was absolutely fascinated by everything that involves going upside down and holding on with your hands only (extended butterfly, ayshas, handspring etc), I saw people do them at my pole club and I was jealous as hell 🙂 I can do aysha and extended butterfly now but the aysha variations some people do still totally turn me on! 😛
It would have to be the jade for me. When I first saw it my jaws dropped. HOW?!?!?!?! Now I know.
The Butterfly and Scorpio both impressed me when I started. They are so pretty! After 4 months I conceded I'd never get there; then I discovered the stickiness of chrome compared to stainless in a cold dry house! Within weeks I'd gotten those moves, the caterpillar climb, etc. Then I had a series of injuries and illness, and 7 months later I'm working to get there again!
For me it was the dance that Felix Cane did to win miss pole aussie, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6KnUW9N3Zo Her lines are beautiful, and her strength is inspiring!!!
would have to say the shoulder mount 🙂
When I first started pole lessons, it was the knee hold and the lunchbox. It took 8 months to get the knee hold, after the instructor told a friend and I we wouldn't get it for a LONG time yet - I went home and did the darn thing 🙂 The lunchbox took me a year and 2 months to get, but I self-taught it to myself. Now I'd love to be able to do some more tricks I dont even know the names of, but look great in all the vids I've seen.
