SV Pole or Pole Sleeve?

I am needing to upgrade my pole. Currently I have a LM Rotator which i love! However I am now at the level where the SS is too slippery to do some of intermediate tricks on and I am sliding down. The upside is that it teaches you to grip, the downside is it makes learning a new trick harder. So now i am stuck between do i purchase a whole new pole or just buy the sleeve for the pole i have. They are comparable in price, i like the purple color of the SV one better, but i need something that i can learn tricks from better. I stick best on chrome, and considered just getting a chrome one, but i like the SV pole because it will mount on the LM mount i have up all ready, so no new drilling or mounting required. Any advice or thoughts??

I recently was able to try both out at expo and while the pole sleeve was fun to play on, I would personally see it more as a special occasion type of pole to play on or to work on specific tricks. The SV powder coat was great for a multitude of different tricks and spins. For that reason I would say that the SV pole would be a better investment. Also the pole sleeve increases the diameter of your pole quite a bit.

I didn't get the chance to play on the SV pole, but I have tried powder coating in the past. If you want to work on dead lifts and use your pole purely for fitness, not for drops, spins, or anything BUT lifts, then don't get the pole sleeve. Also, Kiki is correct that it does increase the diameter of your pole by another size (40--> 45, 45 --> 50, etc.) I am getting a pole sleeve specifically to work on lifts, so I'll never ever have to worry about slipping. But I should have a new pole by then to pracftice spinning and static spins :)

I just want to note, the sleeve actually puts it up larger than a pole size. My pole sleeve made my 45 much larger than a 50mm. I vote the SV pole. PC will allow you a larger range of use. You could also have your lilmynx powder coated.

Pole Sleeve!! No doubt about it. So fun. Great for learning tricks. It's so grippy the increase in diameter isn't an issue. Love it!

It was also my understanding that the pole sleeve is not easy to get on or remove so if you are planning on pole sleeving your current pole it is pretty much going to only be a pole sleeved pole..

the sleeve is only for poses. No drops, no spins. It is very different from using a regular pole (IMO.) I did a write up on my pole sleeve on my blog, if you wanna check it out. femtasticdance.blogspot.com It took my 1.5 hours to get it on my pole, but my pole is brass, which is probably part of the problem. I have not taken it off for that reason.

Thank you for all of the info. I had not considered some of the points brought up. Im thinking that the pole sleeve is out as an idea, because i still want to use my pole as a regular pole, just need better grip. Someone mentioned powder coating, i have no idea how to start looking into that or if my pole would fit in my car for transport (im not even sure my car is 7 ft long total! lol). The pole was delieverd by UPS and has never been out of my garage. Right now i am leaning towards the SV pole more and more.

I tried both at expo.. i was very disappointed in the sleeves... i had a great grip, but i didnt like how much wider it was. I fell in love with the SV pole though. Gripper than my brass and less tempermental. Its on my "things to purchase" list

I am disappointed that Pole Sleeve did not have at Pole Expo the 1.50 inch competition grade pole with a sleeve on it. I ordered the sleeve for a 45 mm pole and the sleeve put the pole back to 2 inches. I sent the sleeve back and ordered the super skinny pole and sleeve. With all the complaints about how thick the pole gets once you put the sleeve on a 45 or 50 mm pole you think they would have brought a sleeve and a super skinny pole which would have made everyone happy, but then it was designed by a dude! Not a lady! Platinum stages makes a 1.50 pole and the sleeve on it is much better! A sleeve is good for trick and strength training, posing and really helps with certain things but you absolutely stick to the pole and can not spin or slide. It should be viewed as supplemental pole equipment and can aid a lot in training, but not replace an ordinary pole when you have slip problems. The problem with the 1.50 pole is the thickness of it makes it not suitable for a removable pole and it must be screwed to the ceiling and floor. Not really a huge problem if you are not afraid of filling holes in the ceiling or floor when you leave your place. Over all the pole sleeve in my opinion is a great option, wish it was thinner like bicycle tubing and not so thick of a rubber. If it were, you might just be satisfied with it on a 45 mm pole.

Xpole will soon be selling both a silicone (which should be similar to the pole sleeve) and a powder coated pole, and at the FIBO they told me that it would be possible to buy them without a dome and floor plate to keep the cost low.

the silicone x pole will be permanently silicone. It will have the same limitations of the sleeve, no spins, drops.

That's right, but you can exchange it with another Xpole since the parts are campatible. If you decide to go with Xpole, you can buy differents parts and just need one complete pole because you can use the top and bottom parts from that one. The silicone Xpole is way cheaper than a pole plus pole sleeve.

I have a price list here; however it's for the European market. It says that the complete XPert will be 249.99 GBP. I don't know for what price they'll sell it in the US.

The silicone is going to wear down quickly...making the pole useless. POLESLEEVES are hardy and are easy to take off...you don't need a second pole. The thickness isn't an issue...not sure why people make a big deal about it. Silicone is slippery too and won't work with a little moisture...

Sorry, but how can you tell? The silicone pole isn't even on the market! I had the chance to play on Xpoles silicone pole at FIBO, and it wasn't slippery at all (I even had trouble to get off actually). Also, I don't think it'll wear off since the silicone is about 5mm thick.

I think the sleeve is only easy to take off/put on the slicker poles, like chrome and stainless. It was sooooo hard to get on my brass, and I imagine PC would be difficult to get it on too. The sticky metal wants to stick to the sleeve rather than glide.
