@studiovenna first off, I want to thank you for being so open to the idea of a mentor/mentee match up, as I think it will be really helpful and enriching to alot of gals here. Second, I want to clarify something...I hope you don't think that this idea came about because I think SV is not a great support system because it is! In fact, the love and support I have received from the SV community is the reason I stuck with pole and didn't quit a few times!
I do want to share how this idea came about though :) I was thinking back to when I first started college and how lonely, confusing, frustrating and hard that first year was. Then I thought back to my first year of poling and realized I had the same emotions and feelings as I did in my first year in college. Sure, I had support from my friends and family but I was still ready to drop out of college in my sophmore year because I just felt so lost stumbling though classes day after to day--I felt like a hamster running in a hamster wheel moving through life but really going anywhere.
Then one of my favorite professors suggested that I get a mentor. Best suggestion ever because I honestly don't think I wouldn't have made it through college without my mentors extra guidance, support, advice and sympathetic listening ear.
And then the lightbulb went off of how great it would be to bring that wonderful 1 on 1 connection and (extra) support to newbie SV members...and there you have it :)
