Super slippery brass. New PS pole. HELP! Can't stick.

Hi pole peeps! My PS 1.5" one peice removeable brass pole is so freaking slippery! I can't crucifix, gemini, stag...I can hardly hold on with my hands! I've brasso-ed it twice, used Johnson's paste wax, srubbed the heck out of it with a soft cloth, used alcohol....there's NO residue on it. I just slide right off! I almost want to cry. I hope it's not the metal. We have a brass pole in the studio that I stick to like glue! I've warmed it up, I've used climbing chalk on my hands...I don't get it. Wahh!! Any advice before I roll my pole out the door?

A clean brass pole will be slicker than a "dirty" patina-ed one. When it patinas it gets grippier. Is your skin dry or do you tend to sweat during exercise? If you have dry skin, you will need a grip aid to stick to it. I was on medications that made me not sweat and I could not grip my brass pole without a grip aid. Corn huskers lotion works wonders in that scenario. Just slather it on really good on your legs and you'll stick like glue. If you sweat (like I now do), your legs should develop a little tack once you are warm, and that will allow you to stick to the pole (sometimes too much!) Be sure to make sure that you and your pole are warm. Feel free to ask me anythig else. I have experience on brass with dry and sweaty skin. :) Hope this helps!

Also, it will take a little while for all the stuff that is on the pole from manufacturing to come off. Just keep playing on it to condition it. It will get better. But again, your body needs to be warm too, not just the pole.

Very intersted in this b/c the only reason I don't have one is I just moved and can't buy right now, but I really want one in the future. Please keep us updated on the grip situation as more time goes by.

Well, 6 weeks later, she's still slippery. It's REALLY frustrating. I saw somewhere to try acetone...and that didn't work either. I still need to try magic eraser. I can't practice the things I want to work on and I haven't had any time to get into the studio. Those powder coated poles have the best grip...at least for me. I'm just going to let it get dirtier and see how it goes. Bah! Such a bummer.

Do you have dry skin my dear? If that's the case, I'm not surprised you have trouble gripping the brass. Put on some corn huskers lotion righ tbefore you pole. You should stick like it like velcro after that. At night, put on some vaseline total moisture conditioning lotion to moisturize your skin.

I can't speak for Karma, but I also have a PS brass pole, and no, a magnet doesn't stick to it.
