Stupid "xpole"... Locking nut is stuck!

I bought a pole on ebay, and they said that it was the official xpole, but when it got to me, it wouldn't spin at all, even with the screws out. I contacted xpole and they said that the base was WRONG! Apparently, I got a knockoff. X-pole sent me a new one for free, and low and behold, that base looked completely different (and spun perfectly). Problem is, I think the REST of the pole is also a cheap knockoff as well, since now the spin screws don't keep the pole from spinning anymore (probably don't line up right inside). So the pole won't stay STILL now. Which is a problem because it's up a little crooked, but I can't unscrew the locking nut because (a) it's stuck for some reason, and (b) the pole won't stay still enough for me to apply the right pressure.And which WAY does the locking nut turn? I know it's opposite from the loooonng screw, but I don't want to tighten it TIGHTER.... I can't find anywhere online how to unlock a stuck locking nut, but I'm really frustrated. There seems to be NO way for me to get this stupid pole down without chopping a hole in my ceiling! I'm scared, because I live in an apartment..... 🙁 Please help!

So you have (a knock off of) the original Xpole? Facing the pole, with a wrench (or the release rod) in your left hand, you would pass the wrench from your left to your right hand BETWEEN yourself and the pole (not around the back of the pole) to loosen the locking nut. Since your pole is stuck on spin, you might find someone to help hold that base steady for you while you then loosen the adjuster rod. If it's too hard for the other person to hold it in place while you loosen the adjuster rod, the only thing I can think of is for that other person to hold the base still using a rubber wrench: http://www.northerntool.com/images/product/images/1501539_lg.jpg Which you can buy at most hardware stores. When you get your pole down I would contact the seller on Ebay and demand a full refund for selling a fake Xpole. Most of these dealers have been good about accepting returns.
