Studio Veena Pole Review

Just had my first real session on my new Studio Veena by Lil Mynx pole. Wow! The grip is incredible. I will say that it is going to take a lot of getting used to after my chrome, but it should be perfect for the up-coming summer months, which was the reason I purchased it in the first place. In general, I have sweaty hands, and soft skin on the rest of my body. Not dry, not sweaty. Just soft. I usually use iTac on my knee pits and thighs and dry hands on my hands. I purposely did not use any grip aids, so I could see what would happen. Without much of a warm-up, I was able to do simple spins without any trouble. I was also able to do a carousel spin right off, which I was never able to do without waiting for my body and the pole to warm up. Reverse grab needed to wait, as my hands slipped. Ten minutes later, I was good to go. Without much of a warm-up, I was able to invert (both basic and chopper) without slipping. Easily. I went right into a butterfly with no slipping at all! At the start, I actually felt a bit of pole burn on my body because the grip is so fantastic. This was apparent when dismounting from an inverted crucifix! Oh, my thighs! Once I was poling for a while, the slide was easier. After a good warm-up, I felt super secure. I was afraid that better grip might make me feel lazier, but that was not the case at all. If anything, I was able to get a much better workout. For instance, I was able to do multiple caterpillars at one time instead of losing my grip and having to bail out. I was able to hold poses longer, giving my core and arms a much bigger challenge. I was actually able to do a decent half flag!! I found that having a more secure grip meant that I was able to work on technique a lot more. I worked on the Holly Drop and didn't feel like I was going to slip off mid body twist. I could do the move in slow motion, giving me a better feel for the move. I only did a short session on spin mode, but the verdict is the same. Better grip means…

The pole arrived today and my partner installed it for us right away(he likes to get his work out from poling too) It's gorgeous purple is awesome! and talk about sturdy, my guy is 6'6" and 195 lbs he can rock it no problem! The grip is wonderful I can do pole hold the first time without slipping down unlike X-Pole which I love but can't stay on it. Thank you! :)

Not sure if someone asked this question yet but I have a very sticky hands. Its not sweaty I don't think? Is Veena pole good for people who have sticky hands? I was thinking of getting stainless steel and if I have a problem with gripping then ill just apply some sticky lotion.

Baby powder will help with sticky hands through absorption of oil and sweat. The powder coated poles work well if you have this issue. At least in my personal experience. But everyone is different. You can also get chalk to have on hand when doing inverts and advanced spins if it is not allowing you to grip enough

If your hands are too sticky they might hinder you doing spins, even more so on a sticky pole. I have sweaty hands, but despite that, I can to spins better on a stainless pole than brass or PC. On brass, I do 1 revolution and get stuck on the pole. Stainless I can go around and around. :) So to answer you question, it depends on what you want the pole for. Stainless would be good if you want to spin on it, and you can add mighty grip to your hands if your grip isn't enough for tricks. PC would be good for hand tricks, but spinning might pose an issue. Even TG had more friction than stainless and chrome, so spins slowed on TG for me...

I have a chrome pole right now, but am very interested in also obtaining a powder finish pole. Can you pole with clothes on in this?

For me and my powder coat I still require a little amount of clothes to stick.

So, I currently have a chrome xpert pole, 45mm. I love it. But I am slippery everywhere. My hands, legs, thighs, I just slip. Would training on this pole cause me to regress when working on a chrome pole with no powder coating? I would still use my chrome, but I am just so curious and I loooooove the color of this pole. Also bruising. I am one of those people that bruise very easily and badly. Would this pole help or hinder that problem. My lady doctor asked me if I was in an abusive relationship, just to give you an idea of how badly I bruise.

What do you mean by regress? If you are on a competition track right now you will want to work on whatever type of pole the competition uses whether thats powder coat, chrome or brass. However if you are not currently on a competition track you will want to work on whatever pole you work best with so that you can enjoy your pole time and perfect your moves.

And I guess, I just want to make sure I will be able to go to a studio (like the one where I currently go to uses chrome poles) and be able to execute what I do at home, though the grips are different...make sense?

Even poles of the same finish will grip differently depending on environment a chrome pole at home may not work for you, grip wise, as a chrome pole in studio. I suggest people go with a home pole that they feel they'll have the most secure and consistent grip on. I use many finishes and do not have troubles switching, I think it's a good idea to have opportunities to use more then one finish.
