Hey Everyone, I'm looking for some opinions here about stage poles. What features do you love or hate about stage poles? What do you think could make them better? For example: I love how freely the PS Star Stand Alone spins when in spin mode, versus the X Stage. And I like the portability of X Stages more then PS stage poles. Thanks for any input.

Hi, I have both version 3 ezconnect platinium stage and xstage. I also rent them out often. I have regular customers who have rented them both and most of them love the portablility and ease of putting the PS together more. What I love about the PS STAR STANDALONE is that I can interchange the pole with the same base. This cannot be done with the x stage. I have 45 and 50 mm in stainless steel and 40 and 50 mm in brass and 45 mm with the latex polesleeves. I also love how low it is so I can transition easily into floorwork. But don't get me wrong.I love the look of the xstage. It is beautiful and professional looking.
You can actually interchange the poles on both stage poles. We have a 50mm and 45mm for our X-Stage.

Really Webmaster. That would be great. I have the Xstage in 50mm chrome and wanted to buy the Titanium gold pole when it 1st came out and was told by who ever answered the phone that its not interchangable. I had to purchase the whole stage to get the titanium gold. I have to call them again . That would be awesome if It is interchangable.
Just make sure they are clear that you don't mind if the center of the stage is chrome.

I love my x-stage and since I am just now starting to work mostly on spin mode, I'm okay if it doesn't spin as fast as other poles, it's still faster than my tension mounted poles. I hate that it is so heavy. SO heavy to the point where for me it's not portable. Oh, I could probably lift from the ground into my trunk, but no way am I getting that base down (or back up) 40 steps. I live on the 3 floor and really need something lighter to tote around. I wish r-pole was over here and that they would bring back their hard stage. Oh yeah, and come down a couple hundred on the price. Sigh. That's b/c I haven't tried the platinum stage SSA yet but hope to soon.

Height of pole out of the box, stability of the pole out of the box, material of the pole, customer service...these are just some of the reasons people go with one pole over the other.

It's not so much that one stage is "better" than another. Each has it's own benefits and flaws, it just depends on what factors are most important to you. For me, I choose the SSA because it is really easy to break down and set up (I can do mine in under 2 min now). However, it is definitely still big and bulky to haul around, at least it's in pieces. I also like that it is low to the ground (like 4 inches high), making it easy to do floorwork. I always have to put some sort of yoga mat down on hardwood / uneven floors, and it does affect the spin mode a bit, and make it slower. I do not like that my SSA pole can come unspun (on static mode, with version 3.0 -NOT the EZ connect). But then again, I use it mostly on spin, and I use it for parties / events where easy portability is my main concern. The X-pole's big benefit to me is the locking pole with hex keys, you know that pole isn't going to come apart, (but then again, I have not tried PS EZ-connect to compare). Last time I saw an X-stage get put together, it took about 20 min. While it does have legs pop out past the round stage area, they choose to only use 1/2 of them, and weighted under the base down with sandbags for added stability. They were concerned someone would get hurt during the competition on the extra legs. The spin mode on it was great, and really fast and smooth. So the big question is, what's most important to you? And I agree with Chem's statement, there are lots of reasons to choose one versus another. The great thing is that there is no wrong answer. =) *Pole love*

Thanks for the feedback FitChix1. I have a friend who recently purchased a SSA with easy connect joints, she said its brilliant. I'm going to go and give it a try this week. I will let you know how I get on and which one I'm going to go for.
