I just realized the last post before mine was in march...so how has everyone been doing on their splits?? I also saw where the author stacey wrote another book called the EXTREME version for proathletes...anyone gotten that one yet??? do any of the mentioned dvds help with box splits? thats my next feat.

It HAS been awhile since anyone posted here, hasn't it? I am still doing the six-week method, although now it's soooo much easier. I can go into full splits on both sides now after warming up and doing some other stretches first (deep lunges and forward bends). I still can't get all the way into a straddle split, although I've gotten a much wider position and can sit with my legs out to either side, bring my head to each knee, and put my head on the floor in front, and sometimes my chest as well. My legs are not in a straight line with my body but it's a whole better than it used to be. My hip flexibility has increased dramatically, which is great! I'm doing better with the lying-down leg stretches now, too, although I don't do them all the time. So now I'm doing the stretches about every other day, for about 15-20 minutes each time. I am very happy with the results I've gotten and hope to progress more in the side splits now. I wish I'd take some "before" photos!! But I was definitely nowhere near the floor, and that was while trying to do the "cheating" splits where your knee is out to the side. This has been the best system ever for getting flexible!
I just found this thread and am going to try out this six week program. Just finished day one. Am 12 inches off the floor with front splits (clinging desperately to a chair and shaking) and nine inches off the floor with straddle splits. My legs are feeling weak and shake-y right now, will let you know how I'm feeling tomorrow. ~Miss Kitty

Hi Miss Kitty, Hope you're not too sore today, lol! I definitely can relate to the shaking, and at first when I was doing this I felt like I had just run a freakin' marathon after just stretching! It was really hard for the first two weeks or so, maybe not that long, and then it got much, much easier. If you're already a foot from the floor, you should be able to do it with your hands on the floor. Then you've got all your weight pushing down from above and you'll get there faster. You're really close with your straddle splits! For me those are the worst....still struggling with that one...
Update! surprisingly, not sore today! Did I not push hard enough I wonder or hold the stretch long enough?? SHOULD I be sore the next day? I can feel it a little, just when I tense the muscles, but not anywhere near sore. Have not tried Day 2 yet - have to warm up first. Will post later when I have. Didn't want to try from the floor because I thought posture was more important - keeping my back straight, rather than bending forward to reach the floor between my legs. Does it matter? BTW Ratty, thanks again for posting this site - I was so impressed last night that I reposted your original 2 posts about it (in quote form to credit you, of course) in another thread about flexibility in the Health and Fitness forum. I hope you don't mind. 😕 I just wanted to share it with everyone! 😀 ~Miss Kitty
Day 3: Did not stretch long last night as was tired and depressed due to things going on in my life right now. Adductors sore this morning, but not much. Got in the hot tub this evening and stretched again. Feels like I'm gaining. The shaking is going away. Hip flexors and hamstrings definitely my two worst areas.

Help! I bought the download for Stacey's Secrets of Splits & Flexibility, and the download will not work! Has anyone experienced this and can advise me how to fix the problem? I can't access Stacey's contact information either because Outlook automatically opens when I click "contact", and I don't have an Outlook account.... grr, help is very much appreciated 😀

I downloaded it about a year ago and had the same problem, never did get a hold of them! I am out the money for it, I did order the DVD though...but it still ticks me off that I lost money on it!

I bought this DVD and a set of ankle weights and I'm pretty impressed with my results so far. This DVD is her showing you how to do these stretches in great detail, but you can NOT go at her pace and expect any improvements. YOU HAVE TO PAUSE THE DVD ON EVERY MOVE TO GET A GOOD STRETCH. The exercises she does with the ankle weights are quite a workout and it defiantly helps improve flexibility. FYI: I also bought one of her other DVDs, Stretching For The Least Flexible People On Earth to help my hubby with tight hip flexors and knee pain. I wouldn't recommend that DVD to anyone for the price. It was produced in a shabby office space and didn't provide information or techniques as good as Secrets of Stretch and Flexibility. She is very encouraging though. Hope this helped. Where did you download this from? Site??
