Spins on a TG?

Ok, so I spent like 2 hours yesterday finding a place in my house to mount my pole. Success with that. Figured out finances with my deployed hubby to make the purchase and now I can't figure out if I want the chrome or titanium gold xpole?! I am still a beginner, progressing to intermediate. The studio I started at I think uses chrome. I have had a lot of issues with sweaty, slipping hands and even thighs which has pointed me towards the TG but now I'm concerned that a TG will make spins difficult because of too much grip. I love spins! But I also want to be able to progress with my invert work. Please help?!

If you love static spins I would stick with Chrome. I use a TG and it can really rip up your hands if you do too many static spins with warm hands. Also, I know some (not all) people with sweaty hands have trouble with slipping on the TG finish. I love love my TG pole, but I don't sweat much and live in a colder climate. TG poles can be difficult for beginners to use because they are sooo grippy you have to be right on as far as body placement, it doesn't allow you to maneuver around to find the right spot like chrome.

I have a TG pole and sweaty hands, and honestly, having a TG pole doesn't help with sweat grip. It helps with leg grip. It it does tear up my hands way more than the stainless steel pole I learned on (I am a big static pole spinner.) I personally think that once poles are warm, they tend to grip fairly well.Chrome should be fine for ya! or if you can drill a hole in your ceiling you can get a stainess steel lilmynx one piece pole (they are even cheaper than x pole.) Hand sweaters just have to have a fan nearby to blowdry their hands, and a towel to wipe, wipe, wipe! FYI, there is nickle in both x pole coatings, but it is more in the chrome. I have a nickle allergy and I have been TOTALLY FINE with my TG, but there are some girls who are super sensitive to nickle who actually do break out after poling on their chrome poles. Just thought I'd let you know that.

Thanks Veena, I agree that for now chrome is the best for me! I just ordered the chrome xs! Ahhh! I'm already dying for it to get here and I just ordered! 😀 Once it comes I'm going to start your lessons. I hurt my right rhomboid inverting at a studio recently and they even said I could have easily bruised my ribs. After looking through forums on here, I now know it's because I was not taught proper form. There actually isn't much body awareness taught at all there and I think I progressed too quickly. I've been poling since mid-July and already started inverting the end of August. It was a pretty painful lesson! Can't wait to get my new pole and start your lessons! I'm so very excited!!!

Thanks also, Scimitar! You've been pretty handy with helping me pick a pole! That gives me some reassurance in choosing chrome. I had starting soaking my hands in sage tea before I hurt my shoulder/back and it seemed to be helping. Also, I think being at home and closer to the ground due to my 8' ceiling will also cut down the sweating a bit since I think it's a combination of clammy hands and nerves! When you get to the point of doing tricks. You should think about investing in a crash mat. Most of the are either 2" thick or 4" thick and run fairly expensive, but then I stumbled upon this one, and it was within the same price range. It is the one I have, and I love it. It goes on sale from time to time, when amazon gets low in stock. Thanks! You are so helpful! I might recruit you as my pole mentor lol I was actually looking into a mat and didn't realize they had ones like this that fit any pole brand. Not to mention in pink!!! I was just learning gemini, scorpio and pike before I hurt myself. Taking a break from those and relearning with Veena once I get my pole. When I feel ready to start tricks again, I'm really thinking I'll get this mat. Best price I've seen. Thanks so much!

No problem. That is what we are here for. I didn't even know what the mats were called when I was searching for them on the internet. I just happened to stumble upon this one by chance. The pink ones are usually way more expensive than the blue ones, so I am jealous that they are on sale right now! I had to get the blue one.

hi there, for my new studio in Treviso I have ordered 5 chromes and 1 tg for me. Honestly, I do not know if it's me the problem but I personally find that TG is slippier when you have already sweaty hands. If your hands are ok, for example right at the beginning of the session, no problem at all, spins in spinning even work better and last longer! And another thing is I think it's difficult to clean and it becomes dirty faster than chrome. I am happy to have a TG because I also have a chorme at home. I don't know if I would have bought it before.

I have a TG and maybe I'm not discerning enough, but I don't feel any difference between it and the chrome poles in our studio. I'm also a big spinner on static pole. I get a lot of callouses on my hands, but I've never felt that my body was getting "ripped up" any more on TG than on any other pole... shrug! To me the biggest difference is diameter -- I love the 45's.
