Spinning pole question

Hi all, I think I may have overtightened my pole. When I start climbing it spins very fast but the minute I try to switch positions it just stops. When at my studio I can do different positions without a problem but on mine it does not work. Can someone tell me if I spin it with my hands without actually getting on it, and let go should it carry on spinning for little longer? Mine just stops immediately. Thank you
