So I finally snapped.....

I've been poling for almost 2 years and my family has known about it for over a year. I am the last of 7 kids and everyone is okay with it, even my sister in Florida who is super religious and conservative. My mom gets a kick out of seeing me upside down and she is 77. She has made some comments about photos I have had up but nothing serious. Now my oldest sister, who is 50+ and rides a Harley, is ALWAYS making snide remarks about my poling. I have tried laughing it off, ignoring comments, etc, etc etc. Last night I finally blew at my nephews wedding reception. Basically told her to f-ing grow up. I pole, I enjoy it, deal with it. Told her it is something I enjoy and I was sick of her f-ing snide remarks every time I see her. I am sure I threw a few other choice swear words in there....all in front of my mom, my brother, one of my sisters and their spouses. I am sure I shocked a few because I am pretty laid back and not easily riled. I just don't get it. Oh well.

I would have eventually snapped aswell, one can only take so much put-downs! 🙄 😐 Everyone does their own thing, so I don't see why she feels the need to make snide remarks. Its disrespectful. I used to have a bad opinion about pole dancers but recently discovered it's NOT all about stripping nakie for people to earn money, it's one of the best workouts you can give your body, and it shows too. 🥂

I would have to! Good for you for saying something! You don't judge her lifestyle so why should she judge yours? I am sure there are more than a few remarks you could make about the harley lifestyle - but that would be stereotyping and probably untrue of her. So she should back off.

How ironic! Devout, conservative Chrisitans okay with it, Harley rider not! Hmmmm, perhaps she has issues about being insecure with her sexuality or something. 😕 Still, you were right to tell her to back the f... off. You can only take so much. It probably made twice the impact because you are so laid back!

It was probably bound to happen and it's probably a good thing that it did. Maybe you needed to let her know how much it means to you and how much you enjoy it. It is funny that she would be the one to make snide remarks and not your 77 year old mom lol.

good for you!!! I have foudn that those who have the biggest issue with me poling are those who are insecure with not only their physical appearance but also with their emotional stability and sexuality!! You rock!! 😀

Seconded, Roxy!!! She prob won't be bothering you anymore - I've had to do that before; people can't seem to mind their own business or suspend judgment - so you have to let 'em have it sometimes - good for you!

Hey Chemmie...I would have blown up too. I'm curious...what was the reaction from her and the rest of your family after you let her have it. I dont see bikers as extreme, but as a biker she certainly encounters a lot of people who do and who judge her so yes it's especially shocking she would be so hard on you. I agree...she must have issues about her sexuality!

She was shocked and started back peddling. The rest of my family did not say a word. See, I am the baby so I am used to getting picked on, but there is a breaking point and it is usually not good!

I can imagine! And if you're usally laid back and quiet I'm thinking they all took this seriously. I get harassed by most of my family in subtle but snide ways. I even have two facebook pages just so I don't have to deal with even subtle comments if family members see all the pole related posts and friends. However, my goal is to get into a sexy but fitness outfit that really shows my build off and do the splits and post it on the family facebook account for my 50th birthday and see what reactions I get to that! Has this sister SEEN you do any pole work?

No, never. You know at first all of the family ribbed me about it....everyone pretty much makes some sort of comment at first. Then there is the curiosity and wanting to see moves. She has even made nice remarks on FB about some of the pics I had up. I don't know if it is her in general or her feeding off her boyfriend who is a sarcastic ass (can we swear on this forum??).

You all have to remember (know) that I am a total chem geek and a total introvert in social situations (unless I have a pole, a dance floor or something that I can talk to you about.... I am HORRIBLE with small talk), so for me to blow in this setting is just not me. Now if you were to meet me you would never know either of those two things because we would have something in common to talk about and I would have diarrhea of the mouth.

"Nobody puts baby in a corner" Good for you girl- some people will never understand. Thing is, I am actually a very conservative, religious person, and come from a family that has strong roots in it as well... I thought my family might have a stigma about my poling, but surprisingly, they are all very supportive of it. I believe it is very important for a woman to stay in touch with her sexuality- and poling can be great for that as well as fitness. For the family and anyone else who finds out I pole- it's strictly fitness- but for my husband it can be much more... it keeps our marriage exciting and me feeling like a goddess. 👍 Good job for standing up for yourself, and those of us like you. There is nothing wrong with dancing and feeling sexy- and to heck with those who think its bad!
