So dry, sweaty, confused and overwhelmed... Please help

Here is my dilemma, live in Cali and I am planning on buying a 45mm xpole but I can not decide between finishes! I've read so many discussions/reviews/articles but I can't find the answer to my question.... What would be my ideal finish? I have dry and sensitive skin w/ the occasional eczema flare up so i am constantly putting moisturizer on which sucks because i also have a SUPER case of sweaty hands! I've used chrome (or what ever that finish is at choreography house) and the brass poles at aeriform arts before. The brass was a no go, the smell and it was to harsh for my skin. The choreo house pole was slippery at first then fine but it also made my skin act up! Has anyone with sensitive skin used a TG and did you have a problem? Or is the safest bet the stainless steel with tons of grip aides? Please help!!

if you can find a place with stainless poles to try, I would. There is a studio in Ventura Ca called stagelight studios and they have stainless stell lilmynx poles. When my body was mega dry, I could not grab stainless without a grip aid, period. TG was pretty slick too. TG is a coating over chrome, so if you have sensitiities to the chrome pole, then you MIGHT to the TG pole as well. I HIGHLY suggest you go play on the poles a stagelight studios. It's less than an hour from you.

OH! So the x pole OFFICE and Platinum Stages offices are in the L.A. area. X pole has FOR SURE samples of all their poles to touch. GO THERE and touch the TG piece.

Thanks for the tips...I'm going to stop by the xpole office to check out the different poles, that way I can buy the pole straight from the office and skip out on paying for shipping!

You may want to look into a lil mynx powder coated pole. They have nice grip!

Veena is right in that. Powder coated sometimes works really well with girls with allergies and dry skin. If you can find a bike r something to touch, those are powder coated.

We have Platinum stages poles in our studio, and have gradually switched out our stainless ones for brass because they just are easier to stick to. I don't understand the "smell" you are talking of. I wonder if the brass poles you were on were Platinum Stages? Was it just a faint smell left on your hands? What do they clean their brass poles with? J

This is just my opinion - but I am also dry skin, very sweaty. The reason I don't like brass is because I've used various brass poles at studios. I am not sure of the brand because they were one piece permanent poles (I obviously recognize a domed Xpert with adjuster holes when I see it.) I have very dry skin, but I sweat a lot. Both when I exercise, AND when I get nervous, so pole makes it really bad. So I stick to brass really, really well when I first start, up until the point where I start sweating heavily. Then I'm prone to literally slipping off the pole. No amount of squeezing between my legs or hands will stop it... it's like the pole has been greased. I'm not sure if it's the actual brass that I can't hold onto, or if it's whatever the studio uses to polish their brass poles. But the only time I've ever felt dangerously unsafe while poling was while I was sweating on a brass pole. It was like having sunscreen all over my body. On chrome and stainless steel, sure I will slip a bit when I'm sweating, but if I squeeze hard I can at least slow down the slipping until I can get my shoulders or feet into a safe position. Brass is just too scary for me. I am thinking of getting a TG pole as my next pole because it sounds like a grippier version of chrome.

Thanks everyone one for your advise! I ended up going with the 45m Stainless Steal and I love it! As long as the pole and I are warmed up and my living room is cool, everything is great so far!

Try stainless...also try pole physics lotion at night and right before you pole..that help the dry skin..and dry hands for your hands..I also put a little on the pole if I am having problems with sliding

I have very dry skin and me and stainless is HORRIBLE. I almost quit pole several times because of just slipping down stainless. I could basically pole from June-Aug when it was humid, the rest of the year forget it and only if in the summer I turned the air way down.

Too bad there wasn't a place that had climate rooms with all the poles to try to see.. Everyone is so unique. Aye jay.. I have a 45mil platinum stages stainless..a 50 ill mynx coated and a 50 mil ill mynx stainless.. I've used my friends xpoleus stainless and that was super slippery for me..the lilmynx stainless is 2nd in the slip factor, and my PS is 3rd on the slip factor.. Sometimes my ill mynx has so much grip it will rip my skin off. I can't even climb brass for some reason..so so slippery for me. My point..I live near San Diego..you can try mine if u want..

I have waa having the same problem. Simply getting the vaseline in the yellow bottle solved all my slipping problems.
