Hey, just got an x-pole in chrome and i find it really slippy. The poles in class are chrome as well and i seem to stay up alright. Is it because it's new? Do i need to clean it with something? My hands don't sweat at all neither. Also, which is the best pole grip? I know some people use a spray, what is it? x

Hello! There are a few things you can do. If you have a steam iron, you can actually steam it. Veena has videos on how to do this. I use blue Dawn dish soap on mine to clean it. I suds up a cloth and clean the pole real well, them=n I rinse it 3 tmes w a clean cloth. There are grip aids that help your hands not slide too. Determining the one that will work for you is a personal thing. We are all very different. I like Itac2. SOme like Tight Grip. Make sure you wash your hands in the Dawn soap too and keep a towel near by to wipe sweat from the pole once in a while. I hope this helps!
Agreed. Dawn dish soap will take off any lingering manufacturing grease or oil. Just be sure to clean it off well with fresh water and dry your pole thoroughly. Another thing is to make sure your pole is warm, and your body is warm. Chrome in particular is very slippery when it's cold. The studio poles may stay warmer from the other students taking turns using them, or they might have a thin residual coating of grip aid from people who have used them in the past. One thing I have found is a lot of the sticking challenges are mental. When I am in a class environment, surrounded by friends, I can push myself a little harder to grip the pole and get a trick. Whereas at home, the pain or the slipping will cause me to give up sooner because I don't have anyone rooting for me. While your pole probably does need to be cleaned, it could just be that you need an audience to do your best. I sure do. :)
^^ Great advice from the ladies. I will also add that poles like jeans are best "broke in". Def steam it or at least a good cleaning, but also know that the more use it gets the better!
Thanks everyone for the advice. I just watched veena's steaming video, so funny. Will be attempting that today, fingers crossed. 😳 i cleaned my pole with fairy liquid, hope that's the same as the dawn one you use. I feel a bit of a difference so its good. i tried to hold on to the pole so much last night that i lost a finger print. Haha i was looking for itac 2 on ebay and they don't seem to have it, strange, i thought ebay had everything. 😃
