Silly question but....

I got a new xpert chrome pole about six weeks ago. As many have complained, it was very slippery. I started using itac and it worked. My pole had all this gunk on it but it was definitely grippy to the point where I did not have to use itac anymore. It was pretty good ....and then I cleaned it. I cleaned it because everyone said you are suppose to clean it. Now I can't do anything on it anymore. It is just as slippery as when I got it. I am inclined not to clean it again. If I works better dirty then why clean it? Am I missing something? I don't want to mess it up down the road. Thanks.

Everyone's different. I love a dirty pole (as long as it's not dirty with lotion!).

To be honest, I really only clean my poles if they are brand new, or if they just be come slick for what ever reason, like build up, or lotion, greasy kids!!! The exception is my Brass it's grippiest if it's clean and shiny.

Oh and my powder coated rarely need to do anything other then wipe it off with a dry rag.

I have chrome and clean it often with alcohol or Dawn dish soap for a deep clean. Just re apply the Itac to the pole if you need to after cleaning. Works for me, but everyone is different,

Wait... so you just put the iTac straight on the pole? And leave it there? All this time I've been cleaning my pole almost between every move, and wondering how it can be so slippery :D

when i had a stainless pole i had to clean it several times during a pole session, i thought the 90% rubbing alcohol worked best for that pole. when i had a painted pole i would just wipe it down with a micro fiber cloth before i started poling for the day, that was it. & now that i have brass i am a dirty girl! lol! i have had it 11 months & cleaned it 2x! the brass works best with my skin if it's "dirty". so i think it depends on what kind of finish you have on the pole & your skin type. & i didn't know you just applied the iTac to the pole! that would have been helpful when i had the stainless pole.

The only time I wipe down my chrome pole is after the kids play on it. They tend to leave a lot of grease on it. I wipe it down and then rub "dry hands" all over it again. Then I leave it dirty until it gets greasy again.

I clean my pole with vodka atleast 3/4 times during a practice. I use dry hands/ pole dance grip aid aswell. When it is cleaned with vodka it's soo grippy. I have a chrome.

I must try that Orla with mine for I was slipping a lot today, I think it depends how sweaty or oily your hands are on that day. Might be best to clean it often,I thought less would work but it's not working for me now. But cleaning chrome with vodka does seem to leave it more grippy at the time.

I would clean my pc and brass pole with a mix of half vodka and half water. Right now for my titan I use half rubbing alcohol and water.

Also forgot to say when my titan was brand new, I used Veena's steamer trick to get the factory coating off. Worked like a charm ;)

The steamer trick is using a hot steam iron on high steam and steaming the pole. After steaming a section, wipe it down. Then do another section. You can also use hand steamers like you use to steam fabric. I used a steam mop and just turned it horizontal with the floor, steamer end pointing at the pole.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Wipe any grip aids off the pole before steaming. I left some stickum on the pole and the steam kind of baked it on. I had to us goo gone to get the stickum off.
