Shoot!!!! Darnit, fiddlesticks, POOP!!!

I just FINALLY brought my pole to my new house....it was the last thing I moved. I measured my ceilings. They are exactly 9'. Yet when I tried to put up my pole, I can't! I have to unscrew the adjuster WAY more than I'm comfortable with....like to the point where I'm not even sure it's completely threaded at the top, and the adjuster and dome part kinda wobble. (Old school xpole, obviously) EDIT: Crap. It's 9' 1.5". That means I'm totally screwed, doesn't it? 😢 😢 😢 My pole is laying across my floor, and it makes me SO SAD. Y'all know how hesitant I've been about this move in the first place, this is SO NOT HELPING. 😠 EDIT EDIT: Went ahead and ordered the 500mm so it will get here asap....I AM SO AGGRAVATED. My new house doesn't even have a mailbox on it yet so this whole thing is just becoming a mega-hassle! Plus I can't dance now until it gets here, because for some reason my boyfriend's roomate got like, RAGE angry when he saw my pole up temporarily at their place. He refuses to believe that I'm doing anything other than whoring around on it. He actually bitched about it/me to my boyfriend's friends, brother, anyone who would listen etc. All behind my back of course. Luckily my man's friends and brother basically told him to back off, that this is my JOB and I have to practice and that even if I WERE just "whoring around" on it, WHY THE HELL WOULD HE COMPLAIN ABOUT THAT?! Men are DUMB. My pole is DUMB. I am DUMB for not figuring this out sooner. I seriously want to just huddle up and cry right now =( I start teaching in just a couple weeks, my pole-a-versary is in a month, and I now officially have no working pole in my house. ......great. 😢 And now I'm SOL to the tune of $50 for this extension when I'm already shelling out big time for the Chicago jam this weekend which is non-refundable so I can't even get out of it, and I'm currently unemployed, except the pocket change from teaching, so I'm already digging into my savings for ALL of this. I feel like such a moron right now.

Maybe you could make some sort of temporary platform to put your pole on or under? Like get a block of wood or something and wedge it be tween the pole and ceiling or make a little stage of sorts? I'm sure there is some kind of way you can rig temporarily until your extension comes.

I don't know if you can use it or not but I just wanted to say sorry you're having so much trouble 🙁 at least this ceiling is taller, even if you do have to get another extension! 😀

the adjuster is supposed to go out no more than 5" safely, thats why the extensions come in 5" increments, it looks like you need the additional 500mm extension 🙁 the basic kit is supposed to be for 88-108" and your ceiling is 109.5" 🙁 but hey look on the bright side! once you get the extension you will be able to go up to 10' 6"!

go easy on yourself, girl. you had a lot you were stressing about. you will get the extension, and lesson learned for the next apartment. if you're really hard up, instead of buying the extension, you can buy a sheet of plywood and cut it in squares the width of your base. find your studs in the ceiling and screw one square through at least two studs (find an intersection). then screw the next layer to that, etc, so that you have 1.5" thick built up. crazy stupid people, you can do nothing about. sorry. 😈 we all get em.

I would definitely use that idea, but these are plaster ceilings. No way I will find studs or get through to them even if I could. The advantage is that I can put my pole anywhere I want it because they're so solid. The downside is that it makes this quick fix impossible =( I bought the extension, but I know it won't get here in time for the jam. So I'm going to probably be really rusty and crappy when I get there. As for going easy on myself....I just can't help it. This was such a dumb mistake, and I'm so screwed because of it =( I just feel like I can't practice enough before my classes start, and with everything up in the air the dancing is so....SO necessary to keep my stress down. Maybe I will sneak upstairs to the boys' apartment and measure their ceilings and beg them to use one of their empty bedrooms if I can. Knowing my luck, they're probably this odd 9-1.5' BUNK too. What a stupid height for a ceiling to be. 😠

That roommate sounds mentally unstable to me. If I was your boyfriend I would kick him out pronto! Then again anyone who freaks out about pole dancing is mentally unstable by my standards! I hate people who do stuff like that 🙁

I've never been to a Pole Jam before, but from what I understand, aren't you all going there to have fun? It's not a workshop or master class, right? I don't think it matters what level you're at, or if you're rusty, or if you can or cannot do this trick or that one. It's a great place for people to meet up who all love to pole. As for your classes, just because you don't have access to your pole doesn't mean your teaching skills rot. Mental imagery really does work and now you've got even more motivation to fine-tune your warm up on the floor and cooling down stretches, etc. You'll ride this out and more than likely everything is going to be fine. You may be twisting your knickers into a knot when you don't need to 😉 . Keep repeating to yourself that everything is going to work out beautifully.

I don't think it matters what level you're at, or if you're rusty, or if you can or cannot do this trick or that one. It's a great place for people to meet up who all love to pole. That's what bugs me. Not necessarily a drive to be as awesome as possible. More related to the fact that I only just got my elbow grip to a pretty comfortable place with my last session with it on Thursday, so I doubt I'm going to want to try it at the jam. This is frustrating to me because it was a move that never clicked for me and I was all gung-ho about it. I wish the studio poles were in, but sadly that's at least a week away too. I did order the extension. I just hate that I'm looking at a whole week of frustration because of a total ditz mistake and an inch and a half. $50 for 1.5" extra is just so....well it's already spent so...I guess I just hope that, by some miracle, it gets here by like, Thursday. 😲

You know what? This kind of crap always happens to me 😈 (frustrating situations, pyscho people, dumb omissions) right before something AMAZING happens! 😮 That's what's happening to you right now. I'm telling you. There is some serious awesomeness on your horizon, trust me!!!! 😀

oh sweetie don't stress about the Jam, its to have fun and play around with other polers. Trust me even if your rusty you will show me up 10fold. I've barely gotten on my pole since Detroit other then to practice my Basic level spins and transitions for my cert testing (ok I did try to do the handstands Karol showed me the one day and my pole threw me to the ground twice, but I'm really trying to forget that day as I went into a crying fit and tried to rip the pole out of the ceiling.... 😮 🙄 😈 😂 )I'll be at the Jam and once again have offered myself up for the showcase so I can make the rest of you all look like goddesses! And don't let the jerk roommate get to you either. We all have someone like that in our lives. See you in a few days!

I have plastered ceilings and to stop my pole from marking the plaster my husband put in 2 pieces of timber flooring wood that was left over from out hall floor. Its been like that for more than a year now and Ive NEVER had problems with it! It could be a quick fix for you for the time being!!

Trena is that screwed into the ceiling at all? I just can't wait for the extension to get here. I'll have almost the whole 9' of usable pole, so that will be a definite trade-up!

Ok so that roommate guy aggravated me. "Whoring around"... how the hell do you "whore around" on a pole? Doesn't the term "around" in and of itself insinuate being in multiple places? While the pole is stationary? There's that and people like that drive me crazy! They have a serious problem with people who are adventurous beings, which shows that they themselves wish to be adventurous but are too cowardly. That's right mr. crap roommate, you are a coward. A vomitous mass of uselessness. What a waste of a human brain. Ok I feel better having said my peace on the subject. But seriously, your man should be standing up for you and for the pole community, tell this ass wipe to shut his mouth, and for good measure, deck him in the jaw. 😈
