Sharing vids on FACEBOOK

Soo.. I have one FACEBOOK account and it's brand new. I only have select people on there and won't add any boyfriends or husbands of friends etc as I post vids of my poling. I'm proud of what I can do and want to share it with my friends. My vids have received overall a good reaction. My username on there has my veena name in it and it's clearly a poling account. I don't have any pics of my son or anything personal like that. Just poling. Anyhow the reaction mainly has been positive except I saw a friend of mine today and she was shocked that I was doing 'that' under my parents roof! (I live with my parents). She asked if they had seen my videos. My mum and dad watch my trick videos but not dancing videos because I think its inappropriate. What is your view in sharing vids on FACEBOOK and your experiences? I have no family on my account btw!

I have a video on my account, because, like you i am proud of what i can do and hoow far i have come. The video is on my main profile and i don't really care what anyone thinks, i just wanted to share it. I have only had positive comments as people can't put you down for something they can't do themselves!

I have shared vids that were shot of me in showcases on my facebook and I do have family (inculding my mom and my two adult step kids and step son inlaw) I usually post them with a disclaimer at the top lol, sexy dancing if you doing want at see me doing sexy dancing you might not want to watch. The only person who gives me grief is my sister who is the biggest prude on the face of the earth. she doesn't even like my pinup pictures.

You mentioned that your profile is mainly pole-related. I say, if your friend is offended by the content, than she can always unfriend you or hide your updates. It's YOUR page, post what you want! :) You've acoomplished a lot and you want to show it off! Nothing wrong with that!

i also share from time to time videos on facebook. not as many as on other websites, but when i learn something new or filmed a freetstyle. i also have family members as friends like my brother and i sometimes tell him to show my videos to my parents. i only allow my friends to watch my videos and also never got bad feedback. you should keep posting your videos, too. one negative reaction isn´t a lot ;) and you (and all the others who tried pole dance) know that this is a hard sport!

I share my pole dancing videos in my facebook. Friends, family and other people can see it. I'm proud of the videos that I do post there and I dont care if someone think's it is too sexual or whatever but I have never gotten any negative comments about them ever. :)

havent made one yet, but i too would make a seperate account just friend other pole junkies, theres nothing wrong about what we do, i just feel as though it doesnt have to been everyones business lol. i also live at home with my parents, theyre fine with it, their only concern was for the ceiling

For the most part my friends/family have been supportive or indifferent to my pole dancing. If they have a problem with it they have never voiced it to me. I have one FB account but I have different levels of privacy for different groups of people. Even though I am very proud of what I can do on a pole I still feel the need to censor access to my videos. Pole dancing to me is a very personal and sometimes sensual experience. I don't necessarily feel like everyone has the right to see that part of myself. I share my pole dance videos with my pole friends and close personal friends only, but I don't mind sharing pictures of me in various pole holds/poses with certain members of my family. There are some people that can't see any of my pole related stuff other than my profile pic, and those are more aquantainces, co-workers, friends of friends, etc. I have thought about opening a separate account for pole related friends only, but I think that would just get complicated and annoying over time. It sounds to me that you have opened this account with the intent of sharing pole related information with friends that understand or accept it. If your friend has a problem withit, then she could unfriend you on Fb or choose to ignore it. You canalso likewiseunfriend her on Fb, since she obviously doesn't understand nor agree with what youare doing. If you choose to open a personal Fb account at a later time, she can be added to that account.

Having multiple accounts on facebook is a real pain I have several.... I have one for old high school friends, family,artists ect on one acct, then have another page for poling (the name I use here on Veena's) for what I like to call my artistic side...I have a lot of other interests that are not mainstream such as herbal healing, candle mediatation, my love of faery and goth. ect...when you get to be my age and have been born and raised strict religious background none of these things are looked on very well. So rather than deal with all of that I just decided to have a page where I can express myself freely and hopefully without reprecussions not so much against me but family and friends...(I have grandchildren and a devoutly religious sister who I adore and would probably accept it as me being outside the box as she knew I was the entire time I have been alive...LOL but I would never want to intentionally or unintentionally embarrass her or her family.) I see nothing wrong with any of my views or poling but the world doesn't always see it that way. There are custody issues with my grandchild who lives with us as well and I would never put my daughter's custody at risk since they are under my roof. and NO, poling should not risk things like this in our lives but I have to realistic to some they just don't get it. I am also in the process of starting a animal crossing page for animal rescue because I drive my family and friends NUTS with the shelter postings. LOL I think the younger you are the more readily its accepted...my daughter has a attended a pole dancing class and it was no big deal but I would be the talk of my hometown...or at least the re-talk of my home town since I always was a bit of a boho chick to start with..lol So in my opinion, consider who MAY see a video you forget to tag for only specific people or keep them tame but DON"T be ashamed or embarrased of poling just realize a lot of people equate it with "not nice girls" lol They have no idea how much work it is and that it is a sport for a lot of dancers....or how much fun they are missing) by the way i WISH I was young sometimes just so I could go...you can stick it! lol But Veena is a great way for me to share videos which I need to do again...SOON!!!! Happy poling!!!!!!!

I would like to add to what I posted above. my family and non-poling friends have all been told my facebook page was created for my pole friends and if they don't like what is on there, please leave and don't let the door hit you in the booty on your way out.

I once shared a video of my pole dancing on my facebook and a few of my close friends were abit weird about it and asked why i posted it!?! lol but i just thought i'm proud of what i've acheieved and idon't care if they have a problem with it as i love it!!

Ok? I just posted a video to fb, and the removed it? They said it was a 3rd part copyright infringement. I guess it was the music I had on the video. Can I take the music out and be fine? Or are they just hating on a poler for the moment?

Was it of you? I have not heard of videos taken off FB for this unless it was of a professional dancer or a competition and you did not have permission to post it.

I uploaded a video to facebook too and it was immediately taken down for the same reason. I fixed this problem by uploading it to YouTube ("unlisted" so that only people with the link can see it) and sharing the link on my profile. When YouTube took down a video I had shared on my blog for copyright infringement, I uploaded it to DailyMotion and posted it that way instead.

Just be careful Jag5303 because what they don't tell you is after 3 time that they take down your video you're not able to put any video 😈 Now i have a YT account where i put my video and just put the link on my fb. Or if it's a video i only want to share with SV friend i put the link from here. I don't have problem sharing my video and most of the time friends and family see it as fun, of course i don't put the really sexy one lol. Once in a while i get tease by a cousin who didn't know about my hobby but no bad comment yet.

@Jag, in order to post video from iPhone, you have to hook your USB to phone and computer and upload that way. The last 2 clips I uploaded were done that way.

While I love that people are able to share so much through facebook and so easily too, I would definitely caution for people to be careful with the levels of privacy. Know what your levels of privacy are set to, and check them anytime there is a big change in Facebook design. I had a totally weird moment not long ago when talking with my mom on the phone. She had been Facebooking potential hires. MY MOTHER. Who doesn't get what 'poking' is on Facebook. If you are amid a job hunt, know that even people who are not typically computer savvy are totally capable of facebooking and googling you. And Facebook is notorious for having issues with privacy settings.

@JAG5303: same thing happened to me when I tried to post a video straight to Facebook... So I just posted a link to it on YouTube and that worked.

I kept my normal profile and just made a list of friends called "No Pole!" for family, former teachers, coworkers, people I'm friends with but don't know well, etc. So whenever I post a photo or video pole-related, I set it so it can be viewed by all of my friends EXCEPT No Pole! I found that easier than making a pole-friendly list, because it was easier for me to come up with people who I *don't* want to see me pole than those I am okay with. And now whenever I add a new friend or get added by someone, I always make sure to add them to No Pole! unless I know they're cool with it. And yes, Facebook is stingier than YouTube with musical copyright. YouTube will warn you if it detects a copyrighted song on your video, but it will only take it down if there's a complaint (which probably won't happen if you have it set to Unlisted, which is what I do), while Facebook just skips the whole issue by removing the video automatically. Posting the YouTube link to Facebook (and making sure it's only visible to people you want seeing it!) is really the best route. On a small side note, I sometimes wonder why people get so freaked out about employers checking them out on Facebook. It's SO easy, one of the most basic profile settings, to make it so that only the people you are already friends with can see your info. I have mine set up so that you have to be my friend to see more than just my name and profile photo. If you ask me, if you leave your profile open to the public, you take the risk of anyone and everyone seeing everything you've got to show.

Well, at the moment i don't share a lot of things. But in my failed intent of bussines i have pics of my self poling, and i'm tagged in it, and proud of it. Now i'm gonna start poling again at home, i'm shure i'm gonna share vids on facebook, not only on veena's page, but when i have a good things to show... Another option is to create a pole dancing group and add people you know who pole and keep all your pole stuff in the group - so only those who are members can see it. I have 2 facebook pages - one for family and people I know in real life and another for pole. Although on a funny note with that, Alethea is friends on both accounts and posted something rather raunchy for my birthday and my dad found it - lol! The whole point was to be able to be raunchy with you guys and clean it up a bit for my dad - oh well!
