I was wondering if there are any dancers that have had their sesamoid bone injured and their story of recovery. I've been dealing with a fractured sesamoid for a year and half and could really use a positive recovery story.

I developed sesamoiditis about two and-a-half years ago, and it still bothers me every once-in-the-while. Usually it's mild enough that I only have mild discomfort, but after playing some pick-up soccer several days ago, it started up again in almost full force. My twin has a fractured sesamoid, too, and from the sounds of it, it's gotten much better over time. From what I've read, it's very difficult to fully heal the sesamoid, as it's so actively used every day. Does cause you severe discomfort most of the time? My advice may not help, since I only have intermittent pain, but I'd say to make the most of the times it's not hurting, and when it does hurt, do as much as you can given the amount of pain it's causing. Try to get one of those inserts specifically for your sesamoid if you haven't already, as I've heard they are fairly effective.

I actually always had some little pain especially in high heels. Then in Feb 2013 I had an aircast for 2 months. Then I went to physical therapy for 6 weeks. July 2013 I had a cortisone shot which wore off by December. I tried to deny the pain but some days could barely walk. I pushed through pole classes and aerobic exercises but i couldnt take it. I then had a cam boot on for a month. I recently had a PRP injection on the 14th which is my own platelets injected into my foot. It's supposed to promote rapid healing and soft tissue to repair this break. I have been told no weight until May 5th. I am dying to go on the 5th. I currently can't pole or exercise at all. I emailed a doc in California who has a blog online with a bunch of tips. I will send the link. It makes me so sad because i was getting so strong with pole and now I havent been able to do anything for months. I even thought about taking my pole down. :( I know it may sound vain but I just want to dance and wear heels again. Hell I would just love to walk right now.
