Sascha's Current Event- 1/31/09

Ok. So this is a current event because it just happened tonight and it was an event at my place. I invited a few girls from my school classes over for the night and was going to teach them the fireman and some transition moves because they've seen some pics on facebook and all and thought it looked cool. i've had my x up in my room for a REALLY long time, no issues no probems, no sliding, nothing! in fact i was just on it last night doing inverts and stuff. so these girls come over tonight and im showing them the 1/2 pirouette and the bootie slide, the forward pole row, stuff like that. so i go to show them the fireman, and the damn pole dislodges from the ceiling! so im mortified, explaining that this has never happened before- and i get my little tool thingy out and go to fix it. as im tightening the bolt- we hear this CRAAAAAAAAAAACK and oh my gawd, my ceiling is broken. 😮 so now i look like a SUPER idiot because "sascha you're the pole girl and now you just broke your ceiling? how skilled must you be for real if you're cracking your ceiling?" 🙁 the thing is, is that i used a stud-finder, and this pole has been up for months- so yeah. of COURSE it would happen when i have company. 🙁 so i showed them floor moves, how to do an invert onto a person and how to take money with your upper thighs while doing an invert on a person; showed them lapdance props and stuff like that but seriously im so mortified!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i just had to tell you guys cuz i KNOW you'd understand!!!! 😢 😢

Oh no that's so not good! Why did ur ceiling crack? You said u used a stud finder but why did it mess up all of a sudden? Hopefully it won't be to hard to fix what did the girls say were they sympathetic or were they making the situation worse haha I ask alot of questions but I'm really sorry that happened! I bet they still think ur a bad ass pole girl that just had some bad luck 🙂

i have no clue!!! but of all days to crack it would have to be the night i had company right? 🙂 im glad nobody got hurt but waaaah! i wanted to make a new video this week and work on new moves! i guess there's a lesson in this maybe- dont be thinking you're all that and a bag of chips; and dont buy the cheapest stud finder. three of the girls were sympathetic and stuff, im a really laid back person so i was just like, "oops! uh ohhhhhh. that's not good". and we all laughed about it and took pictures and stuff; one of the girls is kind of snooty though and im sure she'll tell all her friends what happened. but oh well; i told them i was mortified and embarassed and stuff. thanks though flos 🙂 that made me feel better!!!

Hi Sascha! When I went to put up my x-pole for the first time, I had a stud finder (an expensive one!) but it still couldn't really find the stud! I called a friend who owns a contracting company, he's a carpenter. He told me that ceilings that have a roof over them have many other metals and stuff in them because they are actually called "stringers" not joists, joists are in a ceiling if there is a another floor above that ceiling. Well any way my point is that it's not always accurate with a stud finder in that situation, and if your ceiling is plaster and not sheet rock, your reading is usually a false reading. He told me to find out which way the stringer runs, then measure from the outside wall (which would be where my window is) over and mark off every 16 inches (in the US) until I find where I wanted to put my pole. That's how I had to do it. He recommends that's the way it should be done to prevent damage to the ceiling. Hope this helps hun, cause it probably wasn't your stud finder!

thanks lilbit!!!! that helps a lot actually- thank you so much for explaining all that!!!! my uncle does drywall and stuff, im gonna call him later today and see if he can make a trip out here- hopefully he'll be able to repair the ceiling and help me figure out where to put the pole now- im already in pole withdrawal!!!!!! i need p.a. polers anonymous or something. ill make him read what you wrote to me so he'll be able to help me fix it better. thanks honey!!! 😀

omg thats sucks 😮 but hey it happens 😉 putting up my new pole i hear that sickening sound of cracking ceiling 😲 well these girls should just appreciate that you invited them and was willing to teach them 🌸 i wish i lived closer everytime you talk about this inverting onto a guy thing im like what?? where can i learn that? 🦇 and the snobby girl can go take a flying leap ( im sure by now you can tell i dont take well to snobby/arrogant attidtudes lol 😈 )

aww thanks camilla!!! i was thinking, maybe next time my friend comes over i'll ask her if i can make a vid to show you guys how to invert up onto a guy- i mean id be doing it on my best friend and she's a girl- but obviously you'd be doing it on a guy. and i would too if i knew any guys. but ill ask her if she'd be ok with it and i'll see if i can make a vid sometime soon.

that would be amazing i have tried to sort of picture it, but i wouldnt know how to start w/o ending up breaking my spine or something so will just wait to see your possible tutorial ordered a chair dancing dvd, but hasn't come in yet somehow i doubt i'll find a move like that on there 😉

Awww man that sucks. 😈 I never trust the stud finders. They wont work on plaster...theres too much other stuff up there for it to get a proper reading. I've put my poles in several different homes and I like the knock method. You need a latter to so you can easily reach the ceiling and simply knock on the ceiling until you here the tone change from hollow to solid!! So forget about that stud finder PS the stud finder will not work on men! 😂 🤓

This is horrible news ,,, who cares what thast other girl thinks ... you can hang upside down on a pole! My old class used to have this problem. They put big round pieces of wood into the ceiling and now put the poles on that to help distribute the weight evenly through out the ceiling!

camila- sure you could learn it- you wont break your spine either, i promise! its a really easy lapdance move. veena- LOL the stud finder wont work on men, you crack me up! if only right??? 😀 my uncle is coming to visit me soon when my mom comes and thankfully he's into drywalling so he said he'd fix it for me. but WAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its only been 2 days and im going insane- im afraid im gonna lose everything i had been working on. pole-pet- hmm thats interesting about the wooden pieces, my mom suggested something like that!

Even when a structural piece of equipment is mounted into the wooden framework of a house, there can be settling and shifting over time that moves the timbers and supports. A house will "settle" into a certain position based on the load bearing over decades. Any new weight or change can shift that balance and if something moves enough, plaster or wall board will crack. When we bought this house, it was on the third tier of roofing tiles. When the time came to put on a new roof, the three old layers were torn off--representing a good several hundred--maybe a thousand pounds of tiles. We had to pay carpenters an extra few hundred dollars to replace some cracked roof timbers before the new roof went on. I could never stand up in the center of the attic. Then, a few months later, hauling down the Christmas tree, I noticed I was standing up straight! Taking the tons of tile off the top of the house had unbowed the timbers and the house was an inch or two taller! It's likely you did nothing wrong at all. Old gypsum and plaster is notoriously brittle. It's likely the normal use of your pole caused a tiny bit of subsidence. When you had the pole party, it was the straw that broke the camel's back! One day before we signed our closing documents (13 years ago), a father and son robbery team knocked off the liquor store on the corner with a sawed off shot-gun and came roaring down the street, missing the turn, and hitting our "soon to be front porch." After tense discussions with the insurance company to repair $12, 000 damage to the house, we closed anyway--and haven't regretted it! But if you take a marble and put it on any part of hardwood floor you can find, it will always roll to the southwest. Our house is just ever so slightly tilted, now--like an episode of Batman! Joel PS: The robbers? Yes, they got caught--they were passed out in the car when the cops arrived. We don't live in a dangerous neighborhood--really--but I'm sorry to say the house was hit again (!) five years later! This time, simple drunkeness was the cause!

small world when i was 5 a drunk driver came crashing through our front porch! 😲 the house i live in now is very old, and does make me nervous sometimes as far as celing damage ect, but even with that loud cracking sound i heard when putting up new pole, there are no cracks in the ceiling (don't want to jinx myself) it's actually the reason for 8 months i never took pole down to clean too afraid of ceiling damage caused by putting up/ taking down still havent put up old pole downstairs a little worried about celing down here, especially where i dont have alot of room to play with so hope can find a stud in a spot where the pole can go well i hope you get everything all set soon i know what you mean it is like an addiction i am dying to go play around, but have been going really hard on it last few days so am pretty banged up i never thought i'd find an exesise i can't get enough of! ☀️ and don't worry i think as long as you continue to work on strength/flexibility through other forms of exersise in the meantime, you'll be fine 🥂

I'm a bad bad girl and im not sure if my pole is between two joists because the stud finder wouldnt work and i was a little sketchy about my knocking method, but my house is only 12 years old so our ceilings are pretty stable. I have yet to have a problem...but im going to go practice now and watch the entire ceiling fall on my head because i wrote this. the pony will save me!

lol glitter you crack me up! maybe you should get morgan over there and he can put the pole up in a safe place- i think guys are just BORN knowing how to use tools and find studs and ceiling joints. if he cant come over, then i'll send my uncle over and he can check your ceiling 🌸

I had a hell of a time finding joists in my room with both the stud finder and the knocking method. It turned out that our ceiling has sagged slightly away from the joists so there was a gap between them, which we found when Dad drilled into the ceiling to find them (he was going to drill in there anyhow, we were putting up a piece of wood onto the ceiling). Anyways with that found my Dad drilled the wood into the ceiling joists and now I can put my pole up on there and the weight will be spread between the two joists

thats awesome lola! seriously im going insane without my pole up- im just gonna try to find another spot for it, i NEED my pole back asap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
