Ring trouble due to pole, is it just me?

Because I have to take my rings off every time I pole, and my knuckles are slightly bigger than the lower part of my finger, my ring finger knuckle has become all swollen and cut up, and won't seem to heal. I've found myself either avoiding wearing my engagement and wedding rings or poling less because taking the rings off/putting them back on has become such a pain.I can usually get the rings off and on when I run my hand under water and use soap/lotion, but it is painful, and I'd rather avoid using lotion right before poling. Does this happen to anyone else, or is it just me that gets really swollen fingers and knuckles from pole? Any suggestions that don't involve lotion or avoiding the rings all together?

You can try taping over the rings with electrical tape. It has similar grip to your hands if not just a little more. I have found though that when I pole with my wedding ring on I get a nasty callous right under that ring.

Nope, it's not just you. I injured one of my ring fingers and took off both my wedding band and anniversary band for about two months now--which I don't really like. I haven't really taken them off for 17 years. I can't wear rings at the studio I go to but at home when I was wearing my rings I really didn't notice them even touching the pole so I wasn't even bothering to take them off. I believe my finger is pretty well healed now--swelling is finally gone but I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I'm considering having them sized larger so it's not such a hassle to take them on and off but that worries me that I might lose them if they come off too easily. I'm a nurse so I'm kind of afraid I would pull one of in a pair of gloves and accidentally throw it away.

I ended up having to get my rings cut off :-( I wouldn't recommend this....it was a long tedious and painful process. I haven't got around to getting them resized - I just stopped wearing them!

I don't wear my wedding ring any more. At least not when I pole often. 😕

I rarely wear my wedding ring either, or much jewellery at all tbh, it's just too much hassle to keep taking it all off lol

Oh man, I was hoping for a better way to do the ring thing :-(. We've only been married for 5 months, so I feel kind of weird not wearing my rings, and if I don't put them on when I go out, people notice. I'm thinking of getting my rings sized up a little bit so that they will fit over my knuckle a little better and not cause a swollen and cut up knuckle every time I put them on or take them off. I'm seriously considering getting a wedding ring tattoo or something, but am not sure what my husband would think about that!

I have been engaged long enough that I am practically married! lol. I really only wear my engagement ring out, never at home. Mostly because it is rose gold, so it's delicate, and I want it to last. I think my method is pretty common. Better to wear it occasionally and have your hand heal! Seriously, it's not the ring that determines your commitment anyways... Give your finger time to heal girl!

Because of teaching so many hours every day I pretty much stopped wearing mine. I told hubby for my b'day I want a heavy gold chain, choker length to put them on so I can wear them all the time again.

I stopped wearing my rings when I became a massage therapist, and since that time my fingers have become more muscular. The rings just don't fit anymore. So I got a tattoo on my ring finger, instead. Problem solved.

It's becoming more common, isn't it? I love how people are becoming more and more accepting of tattoos. One thing though, is that there aren't many wedding tattoo designs out there. it took a while for my tattoo artist and myself to come up with something I would want to have on my hand forever.

I got mine 3 years ago, after 16 years of marriage and lots of damage to my real ring. At that point, I hadn't worn the ring for nearly a year. My tattoo is a replica of my great grandmother's engagement ring, which I had soldered to the ring my husband bought me. The three "stones" are our birthstone colors (October for me and hubby and June for our son), though it's hard to tell in the pic. Definitely difficult to design something meaningful for such a small area.

I got married this summer and deliberately got my wedding band a half size larger than I would normally wear, just because I knew how often I would be taking it off and putting it back on. The ring feels a bit loose when I wear it, but my knuckles are thicker than the upper part of my finger so the ring doesn't come off unless I pull on it. Maybe try getting your rings sized up a little?

Not married but I used to wear rings on a normal basis. I've come to the conclusion (and have discussed with my SO) that I would need to get a nice chain and wear my engagement/wedding rings around my neck. He's not too thrilled with the idea but I have a history of losing rings once I take them off so it's the safest bet.
