recording practice sessions-- good AND bad!

hey ladies! i just wanted to post about this because i've been thinking about it a little bit. i started getting serious about pole in october. and it's been up and down and all around since then, but i've tried to be pretty dedicated about going to classes and exploring teachers and really taking the learning process more seriously and diligently. so, i started recording practices-- at first just a little here and there, but now i do it even when i'm trying out new moves and combos that i haven't done before-- so lots of funny bloopers, and i DEFINITELY don't post everything. and yes, it's helpful to see where you can correct your form, but you know why i REALLY film? because it's encouraging to see my own growth recorded! it's tough when you're poling all the time, to really keep things in perspective. there's always a trick that you just CANT seem to get, and there's always something you would like to be able to do or figure out, but having all my videos and watching practice from whenever, i realize how much i've improved. it's sort of like growing out your hair-- you never notice it, you see it every day, but look at a picture from even a few months ago and you go: woah, my hair was SHORT! i've consciously tried to take a really positive attitude about poling, because i know myself and i KNOW i'm pretty "type A". i dont think a lot about what my weaknesses are or compare myself to other people. i am in this to learn and most importantly to have FUN and i know for some people it's tough to see yoruself on film without being really critical of yourself. but i wantd to say how much filming has helped me, and in a positive way, and maybe it could be helpful for other people too!
