Hi everybody! Stumbled on this today whilst procrastinating: http://www.r-polefitness.com/portable-r-poles.html Expensive! Would be interested to know, what's the opinion of everyone?

Hmm the fact that is comes in 38mm is kinda cool, although my 45mm fits my hand perfect. I cant imagine having it any smaller! lol, im interested as well to see how the reviews are for it. I know there was a vid on YouTube with Felix, Pantera & some others trying out a 38mm pole but I dont know if that is the same one? 🤔 I love that pad on the bottom tho, does anyone know of any makers that make crash pads especially for pole use? (That I can buy without having to purchase a pole with it) At the moment Im using couch cushions or nothing.... 😕

Lil Mynx and Urban Fertility make crash pads for poles. I have one from Lil Mynx.

I like the idea of having a pole in the garden!!! But here in Ireland we could really test that rust-proof claim! It rains about 367 days of the year!! But I suppose that's true of many parts of the UK too, where the pole was made I see. The different attachments sound cool though - a Chinese-style rubberized pole attachment!! (They said that was coming next..) In the garden!!! Yay!! But! I'll have to save my pennies!!

These poles are really expensive - about $1600 USD BEFORE shipping 😲 They are really cool but Platinum Stages is about to release a similar style pole that should be less expensive. I'm curious to see how many are keen on having to use the mat. Mats are good for tricks bad for dancing so while I love this pole for teaching, I even feel some of my students may not be terribly keen on having to use the mat for everything.

Alena Downs of Pole Junkies also put out a mat. ...I think she has one that's five inches thick. And I think it's just as cheap (or ridiculously expensive) as some of the other Mats I've seen. I know Adamseve has a pole-o-mat! 🙂

I'm a bit disappointed, to be honest. The portable one is priced way beyond me, but I did sort of expect that. Still, I wonder how many they'll sell at that price? I was really looking forward to a skinny one I could put up in the flat but the semi-permanent one doesn't spin! I can't go screwing poles into my roof 'cause I rent, plus I'd probably have to buy a new one every time I moved 'cause they're one-piece poles :[ Oh well, I suppose I'll just have to get a bit stronger instead of cheating and buying a super skinny pole 😂
Not to hijack the thread or anything, but, with regard to mats, is there any reason why we couldn't just buy a regular gymnastic mat and cut a hole in it? Of course, when I look at gymnastics mats online, they are really pricey, too ..

Thanks for the info on the Crash Mats guys! They are so pricey, almost as much as a pole (including shipping) 😮 And I just bought my second pole (45mm TG) so I dont think im gonna be making any big purchases any time soon. Maybe in a few months. I bookmarked the sites tho for future reference. 👍 I'll just stick to couch cushions for now 😎 Thanks again!
Deb Riley sells pole mats, her brand is called pole-o-mat I think they are about £75 ish and can be folded up into to carry with handles.

I can tell you no the base in NOT as stable as the X stage base!!!! They even make sure to state on the R pole website that they are not trying to compete with X stage, they call it their Brit competitor or something like that. 😀

I just saw the video on youtube.... that base does NOT look even close to as stable as the X-Stage. It was wobbling all over. I'd be so nervous it would flip on its side, lol. Nah it probably wouldnt but I cant imagine moves would feel very secure if your base is bouncing from left to right on the ground. It'd be one thing if the pole was a little wobbly (like the xstage pole is sometimes) but not the base 😕 I really think it is over priced and dont see many people buying it for what they are charging, especially if the base is moving around like it is, for nearly a grand i'd expect that thing securely in place, yah know?

I like that they fold up, have handles and most importantly they look very thick & squishy. Shipping from the UK is going to be Pricey tho! I can imagine the weight on one of those things.... Im gonna see if I can find anything in the fitness section of some sports stores around here before i go ordering online. I'd love to find something comparable that I dont have to pay shipping for... then i would be able to buy one MUCH sooner 👍
I really like the idea of a portable pole without a stage but the prices are so high! 😲

I know - I really want one. A stable, portable, free-standing pole with no stage is like the final frontier (geeky star trek reference, sorry)!! but the price being high makes it a risky investment! When I put my X-stage on grass before and it wobbled more than usual. I wish that the R-pole video had been filmed on an indoor surface to eliminate that factor. PoleDanceABCs, Platinum Stages appear to be launching a stage-free portable pole soon too. Described in this press release: http://www.platinumstages.com/extreme.html Says the base weighs 40lbs. 40lbs!! That's kinda light. Will be interesting to see that one in action.
