Questions about installing a pole

Hi everyone. New to this community. I started taking pole in 3 months ago and I am honestly addicted. I would love to install an x-pole in my room. The only problem is I have really delicate hardwood floors. There's a new dents in it from just dropping something small on it. I know the X-pole comes with a silicone lining for the base and the top but i'm pretty paranoid about wrecking my floor. Has anyone had any luck with placing a regular rug under the pole or using one of those plastic floor covers you use for office chairs? Also I found a good deal on Craigslist for a 50 mm pole even though i've been using a 45mm at the studio. Does the size make a huge difference? Thanks for all your input!
