Question regarding editing with iMovie

So Im fairly new with this whole video posting/editing bit... ive figured out iMovie pretty well but one thing i CANT figure how to do or even know if its possible, is there a way to edit out bits of the video clip? As is Im doing my videos uncut which I dont really mind... but i really wish I at least had the option. Any help would be appreciated! Or if anyone knows of a great editting software for Mac (apart from iMovie of course) that would be cool too 😁 👍

stick with iMovie for the moment. The only other video editing software I know of for Mac is Final Cut. and the last time I checked, it was $ mumble thousand etc. A bit less for Express, which may be worthwhile, we have Studio which is great! iMovie is completely fine to use. It's a really great product. Google editing tips for iMovie, the community is big enough that you should get the info you need.

I have iMovie, I think thats the only editing software I have. I used to work for Apple and could kick myself in the butt for now grabbing Final Cut. Any hoo, this program completely stumps me. I am simply trying to get the background color from default black to ANY OTHER COLOR 🤔 and I'm so frustrated by it. If any one has any other help tips editing in iMovie that would be huge help. I am kinda excited 👍 to learn editing I just hope that the creativity is not stumped by not knowing how to do things.

iv been having trouble with this too. There is a way too delete bits ill try and explain it. If you click and drag on the bit you want to delete a yellow square thing comes up and if you drag it around the section you don't want and click on the x with a little plus next to it it will reject the selection and depending on your settings will disappear or have a red line through the top. From imovie if you select view rejected clips you should be able to move them to the trash from there. Sorry it's so long winded and hope it helps 🙂

Might be slightly different from regular iMovie, but the concept of cutting segements out is that same for ALL editing software. (You 'snip' the clip at the first point you want to delete from, and then 'snip' again and the last point (when you want to come back to the footage), and then put your cursor on the unwanted section and hit delete. How to snip varies, but usually just put your clip on the timeline, drag your cursor to a point you want to cut from, and try right clicking, going to the 'edit' menu or looking for a little picture of scissors or a razor.)
