Well, anyone who has an X-pole have sure tried the spinny mode. And gotten really sick xD Does anyone have any advice on how to avoid getting so sick when you pole on spinny? Or do you just have to practice being sick? 😜 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 <- lol these things fit so well here x3 ....................... And people: Stay safe!! 🙊

I don't know Dolly. Maybe you could try some of those motion sickness meds? LOL I wonder if that stuff would help? Someone else posted about getting sick on spin too, but I can't remember who or when it was or what answers they got...

I use to get really sick too, I still have to be careful. Keep it slower and controlled at first and it really helped me to work on only upright moves....don't start off with inverting on spin, this made it worse for me. Do a trick or two, then get off and do some floor work, then try a trick or to again. The worst thing I found was to try move after move 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮

spinning in both directions helps relieve some of the dizziness! but it really comes down to practice...the more you do it the more accustomed your body and your ears get!! 😀

I have this problem as well - makes me want to puke. I can't seem to control the spin so I don't go too fast. When I first got the x pole, all I wanted to do was spin but as I've got used to static, spinning makes me more sick. I have to lie on the floor and stop the room spinning before I can carry on! 😂 Maybe travel sickness pills will work! 🤮
My only concern with you taking motion sickness pills is if that would make things worse in a way? You should definitely read all the lingo jargon on the pills if you are going to take them. Who knows if maybe heavy exercise is not good when you've taken one...Just looking out for ya! I suggest taking it slow. Make your movements around the pole more exaggerated and bigger. The tighter you pull yourself in, the faster you go. Like when going into a flirty fireman, pivot around in a big circle...I hope that helps.
I remember I used to feel sick on spinny too. I would have to lie on my bed to slow down the spinning feeling, and let the nausea subside until I could try again. It would make me feel like I was hungover hahaha! But now I am totally fine! I can spin all day, at any speed. Just keep practising and me gentle with yourself. 😀
I used to get sick just pole dancing on a static pole! usually when I was getting a bit too into it and trying to do too many spins too quickly. it got much better with time so iam hoping it will be the same for the spin mode. I haven't used my pole properly in soin mode yet (only one or two spins), and after reading your post I will take it easy. Thanks for the warning 😀
I have learned that spinny mode is kind of like an ice skater when they do the really fast pirouettes on the ice. When they let their arms or legs out, they slow down a bit, and when they bring the arms and legs in, they speed up. When I instruct students on spinny mode for the first time, I have them experiment with their body positioning on the pole. Pulling the body into the pole or straightening their posture will speed them up, pulling away, arching their back or bringing a leg or arm out will slow them down a little. I always make sure to tell them to GENTLY lift into the spin, NEVER jump or LAUNCH your body as they do when in static. As far as the dizzy factor, I found that it helps if you can spot something MOVING WITH the pole...i.e. finger nail polish, your hands, something moving with you. It helps a little....Just take things slow and take lots of breaks!! I hope this helps some! Allie

I agree with ^ I look at my hands or the base of the pole if I'm inverting on spinny, it helps but you have to get used to it. You should NEVER close your eyes lol although I'm sure you're smart enough to know that - I experimented at the beginning and found that not only does it make the sickness worse, flying across the room is also not so fun haha
has anyone actully been sick,i havent but i reckon i was close to it,i felt bad for about 2 hours after 😨 ,i dont so much now but still dont use it as much as i would like,i cant seem to do alot with spin,my arms feel weaker than when on static,and im gutted i cant do a prezel spin on it,like i can on static,that looks super cool on spin.
Just give it time. 🙂 Go easy on yourself and increase your practice time bit by bit. I used to feel sick, shaky and clammy for ages afterwards too. But now I can spin fast for hours with no sickness. 😀 It's just like you have to keep sitting on the pole little by little to get used to pole burn between your thighs. All practice practice practice. ☀️
A natural remedy for motion sickness is ginger. It works great for dogs and kids who get sick in cars. Not sure if it would work for spinny poles, though. I have gotten dizzy on static....not so much any more. Still not a big fan of spin mode...... 🤮
I took a spinning class last week and thought I was going to be ill the whole time - we were practicing a lot of moves. I kept thinking I was going to thow up while doing a layout - I'm sure I turned green. I kept thinking about that scene in the Exocist... 🤮 My teacher said to switch up the directions of the spins and that would help. Um yeah - but NO...didn't work for me LOL but maybe it might help you - who knows. My friend also swears by sucking on little ginger candies...
I used to get really queasy working on the spinny mode as well! What I have found that helps me is wearing Sea-Bands. They are wrist bands that use acupressure to alleviate motion sickness and nausea. You can find them at most drug stores along with the motion sickness meds or behind the counter. I actually wore them for morning sickness during both of my pregnancies. Between the bands and just pacing my workouts and alternating between spinning and non-spinning modes, I really haven't had a problem. Hope this helps!!!

has anyone actully been sick,i havent but i reckon i was close to it,i felt bad for about 2 hours after 😨 Eh...ME!!! I have literally ran to the bathroom & puked my spleen and not just once either!!! But I still occasionally try spinny cause Id love to be able to do it! 🙁

I have tried all of these things in the article, and never felt any better. lol The only thing that has ever worked for me was taking it slow and sticking with upright tricks for the first few sessions then, slooooowly working on inverting while on spin. Seems to be a good way to give your body time to adjust. 🤮

Veena...you tried the PUMA method?! I thought I was the only one who had tried it and I've never even found anyone else who heard of it! Wasn't it a pain to do those exercises? I've actually thrown up as well. My motion sickness has always been severe - and has worsened significantly with the onset of menopause! I get sick just watching roller coasters on TV! I also am allergic to dramamine and bonine! However I found the homeopathic remedies for motion sickness worked very well AND they don't make you drowsy. One was Hylands motion sicness pills and the other was Vertigo Heel. Vertigo Heel worked very well but it's not sold in the US so you have to order it. I did a spinny routine a couple last year and after daily practice for two months, lots of bad days, I was able to lesson the motion sickness meds and eventually did my performance without any. I've also found that adrenaline makes a huge difference so if I"m dancing in front of a crowd the dizziness isn't nearly as bad. However after the performance I took a week off from spinny and it was back to square one!

No, I have never heard of the PUMA method......So far what has worked well for me to get my body accustomed to spin was to only doi upright moves for the first few sessions then keeping it slow and controlled move on to inverting moves after 3 sessions or so. I tried everything under the sun when I was pregnant cuz I had morning sickness with them all and nothing worked but peppermint gum! 😂 I rarely vomit when I get sick to my tummy cuz I think its the most horrible thing in the world! LOL so I can fight it pretty well (unless its the stomach flu) If I don't take it easy at first on Spinny, I just end up feeling really sick for hours. I haven't worked on spin since my last spin vid which was...April I think...eek So Whats the PUMA method?
OH...sorry I thought you meant you had tried everything in that article so I presumed you tried the PUMA method as well. It's a training method of exercises to practice to gradually build resistance to motion sickness. I definitely saw improvement with it but I was just too impatient to continue with the program so I just stuck with the homeopathic meds which kept the motion sickness under control as I built resistance each day I practiced. As I said in that ariticle the Vertigo Heel and Hylans motion sickness meds worked great for me and they dont make you drowsy so they are safe for poling - practicing using either of these gave me the best results and eventually I got use to the spinning and didn't need them any longer. Another note about the ginger...ginger works only on the stomach so it will not alleviate the dizziness or headaches if anyone suffers from those motion sickness sypmtoms. But it is very effective to stop the puking!
I'm so glad to have read this post. I just ordered the Kendra xpole and was feeling EXTREME buyers remorse because it doesn't have the spin. To know that Veena still gets sick makes me feel so much better. Not that your sick Venna of course 😀 but lets me know that I can still pole without spin mode and be fulfilled. I never like spin things like the one they used to have at the park as a kid or any spinning amusement park ride as I always get dizzy and sick so maybe spin mode wouldn't be for me anyway. I guess I'll try it out on my friends pole and if I like it I can purchase another pole later down the road. Now, I feel a lil more content with my purchase and I'm excited again. I just like how the moves look on spin mode its so pretty. Will I still be able to do nice spins on a static pole?? 🤔

I Have tried ginger and unfortunately it has never been effective for helping my nausea. 😢 I lived on peppermint gum with my last pregnancy, it was a life saver. My method works well for me on spinny, so I'll just go back to that once I have time to dance again. 😀
