Possible first pole?

Hi! I've only just started having pole lessons (I've only had about 5) but am really into it, I would love to have my own pole at home to practice on but have no idea what brand to buy or anything about them really, the main problem though is that I still live at home with my parents and I think they'd kill me if I bolted anything to the ceiling, so would anyone have any advice about a pole that would leave no marks from going up and down that I also wouldn't fall off and break my neck? Haha :) x

If you do a basic search through the forums you will find countless threads about this topic! For starters, I suggest getting either a Platinum Stages pole or an X pole - they are sort of the standards for high-quality SAFE poles. There are lots of options on your pole - Spin/Static/Both - Static is what I think *most* people start out using, but it is nice if you can find a pole that has the option to spin AS WELL. Size - The diameter of your pole can differ as well - 50mm was the initial standard but I've seen more and more people opting for a 45mm. Either is find, I feel like it is easier to get a good grip around a 45mm but anything requiring armpit or kneepit holds are easier on a 50mm. Finish - Here's the big one... Different finishes will have different levels of grip. In general, Brass is your most grippy pole. It makes me feel like superman when I get on a brass pole. I have stainless steel which is probably the most slippy pole, but I did that because I know if I can hold a move on that pole then I shouldn't have trouble holding the same move anywhere else. There are other finishes that range in between the two, including Chrome and Titanium Gold. Again, look through other forum posts as there is a lot of info about the different finishes =)

A stage would work best if you don't want anything touching the ceiling. If its an apartment, standard ceiling heights for apartments are usually 8 feet. So, if you get an xpole stage you'll have to order an additional part, OR, you can cut the pole. I went with the additional part (in case I do move somewhere or outside where I can attached the piece to make the pole 10 feet) I got a stage specifically because I damaged my ceiling with my sport pole, and was told not to put it back up. The stage works out nicely. :) It does take some time and fearlessness to get used to a stage, simply because every freestanding pole has a little wobble to it. Also, as far as diameter, its all about personal preference. I thought I preferred 50mm after taking classes at S Factor studio. All that have are 50mm poles. These are really good for leg holds. There is a benefit of making your arms real strong doing poles and climbing too. My stage pole is a 45mm. Tiny being jarring at first, but trust me, your body gets used to the change. Thank you! I don't really slip on the ones at the class I take which I imagine are chrome so il probably stick to what I know lol I'd love a stage but they're quite expensive on xpoles site so Ill have to wait a while! Also I've only ever used a spinning pole so id definitely want one that does both, thank you all for the info :)
