Pole Overspin

Any tips on what you can do to slow down the spin on the pole if the following are not working controlled slow movements pushing weight out away from the pole to counteract the force mounting into moves without using forceful spinning mounts i'm tiny to begin with, so when the pole overspins, pushing away doesnt do much I have short stems...unlike the delightful Veena! I believe wearing SHOES is a big help but I'm a barefoot poler any stories or tips will be both entertaining AND helpful. I am happy enough to be able to pole at all currently, after a few setbacks happy poling y'All... love Sara

I'm not sure how much advice I can give on this. I just push my weight out away from the pole. But usually I just take it....I'm trying to get used to spinning faster. I am a barefoot piper as well though I am expecting my first pair if pleasers tomorrow. What exactly are you trying to do on the pole that makes you overspin?

Why do you want to slow down? Is it because of dizziness or that you are not strong enough to handle the current momentum? Or something else?

Counteracting with weight tends to work for me - I stand at a proud 154cm tall and am quite petite so I spin fast as well. Big moves, like jade split, tammy (imverted thigh hold) extended butterfly, machine gun, cross ankle layback, aerial flag, iron x, dead lift / aerial handspring - things that take your weight "out" tend to work well. Holding the move for a while is a good start but if you quickly pull your hips in, without leaving enough time for the move to breathe, I tend to go fast again, but not as fast as it was originally.
