Hi everyone, I currently subscribe to pole2pole magazine but can not anyone tell me how many and what other pole magazines are out there? Also please tell me if these are pay-per view online mags or actual hardcopy mags?

I was thrilled when I saw a couple issues of Pole Spin at my studio, but I couldn't get past all the typos, grammatical errors and unwieldy sentences to really get to the content. I was so disappointed!!

oops, hire ME as tech writer. I think I could take care of a few websites as well. Then we all win! and I can apply my real life job skills to my pole life. :) ok so far, Vertical, Pole2Pole, and Pole Spin. Are there others? Maybe I should give one of them a go.

Good to know... I just looked up Indigo and it looks really cool! Wish I could get my hands on a hard copy to really give it a once over. However, I did notice that for internation distribution, you can contact them, so it is likely that it can be gotten here in the States. Also, I noticed that they mention that they are distributed to studios all over the globe! Not sure about pricing though, however it may just be worth it :)

I have to agree with Robyn, pole2pole are dreadful. They published a 4 page rant this month (which I haven't seen personally as I would never give them even $1, never mind paying for a copy) about their US Cup competition going wrong which apparently blames everyone else but themselves, there's another self-pitying whinge on their website about pretty much everyone else in the UK pole community because few people have any respect for them here. They frequently use other people's copyrighted images without permission and have an outstanding court judgement against them for copyright infringement so they owe one photographer over £3,000. They featured an apparent pole newcomer this month without a single picture of her on a pole and barely covered nipples in a glamour pose on the cover. Robyn and I have been unable to find any evidence of this woman ever touching a pole so suspect there is something strange going on there. I can vouch for both Indigo Dance, Pole Spin and Vertical being much better quality than the collection of half-truths and misprints in p2p. I've personally met the owners of Indigo and they are lovely girls. P.S. I only sell products from people I trust and respect on my site htto://www.everythingpoledancing.co.uk so I stock Indigo and Pole Spin there and ship internationally if anyone would like to try a copy. Surprised no one has mentioned PDI (Pole Dance International). I met the editors/owners at PoleCon in LA last June. Seem like good folk... Tho it hurt, I forked out the $10 for a copy of their mag that they recently re-invented/re-designed. Looks good, reminds me of like a "dwell" or s'thing, cover is matte rather than glossy... Anyway, they seem like publication pros, and I'm anal about things like that, so that right off the top gave them points in my book... but ouch that price point... If I recall correctly, they claim to be the oldest pole mag out there, and to have been the 1st to cover International pole news/events/performers/etc... Anyway, that said, admittedly, I've been ridiculously too busy to even just SIT for 1 hour to finally give that mag a nice relaxed but thorough perusing, so can't speak much to the writing at this point. Nice photo shots. They also claim to NOT be affiliated with any once single pole organization, so that was another major point in their favor for me... And smart of them, I think... the whole reason why I am now embarrassed to have purchased an annual subscription to Pole Spin for my studio owner (as an x-mas gift last year) is precisely because of its affiliation with the APFA -- which I learned only 1-2 months AFTER buying that sub about all the controversy around that organization (particularly stemming from their requirements that APFC finalists refrain from engaging with the exotic/adult entertainment world), even legal issues (something to do with some problems with the Susan B Komen foundation), poor management (owned by Tinu who has apparently made some really infantile public comments and really lacks professionalism) -- nevermind the disappointing quality of the mag itself... Needless to say there will be NO renewal of this subscription... Can anyone else out there weigh in on experience with PDI? One more claim from PDI I will throw out there that let's see if I can relay accurately: they will publish details of ANY and ALL pole events they get info about from anyone who submits... Any comp/show, etc -- True? I wonder? Again, anyone else out there have any 1st-hand experience with this? Last thing: I know Pole Spin is issued quarterly, no idea about PDI (geesh, for the $10 I spend you'd really think I ought to pull out that mag and finally LOOK at it a little more carefully, huh?). I also think it is NOT quite as expensive as PDI, but I could be wrong. I know I spent about $30-s'thing on the annual, so I suppose the price is not actually that far off... PDI used a logo of ours in their magazine (from an event). The logo was OF my business partner (made from her photo of herself, edited by her boyfriend into a sillouette). When we wrote to them to ask them not to use the logo, they claimed it was THEIR image, that they were registering it as theirs, and they were going to SUE US for using our own logo! The email they sent was threatening: "we are VERY influential, and can make life very difficult for you". I'm sorry, that does not seem very professional to me. And makes them another company that I can't recommend.
PDI got a HUGE overhaul this year. I remember them when they were just an online only. They even had lots of coverage of the very first PoleCon. In comparison to the first version of the mag, the new one looks amazing! I think they are more toward having contribitors than a whole writing staff on board. I believe PDI is bimonthly so the $10 price tag comes out to $5/month. I know Cosmo is about that price as well. I With our sport getting bigger and more reconized, we will see publications on the rise. Keep in mind that we are still infants in the sporting world and were just trying to figure it out.
