Pole in the garage - getting wet in winter- any experience?

Hey guys! My pole is now finally up after months waiting for a block mount yay!!!! Someone in my pole class has worried me tho - I have my pole in my garage it's quite cold in there and it takes me a long time to warm the pole up (this tho I am getting used to). Anyway my pole friend mentioned that she had her pole in her garage and during the winter it actually rusted slightly because of the cold condensation. I had a thought of putting a cover around it I protect it, and I think someone has missed a trick here not inventing something to cover your pole. Anyway I came across trampoline foam sleeves and Im thinking that could work. Anyone have any experience/advice on this?

What kind of pole do you have? I had mine in my garage for years and had no issues. I do know though that some of the earlier xpoles and ps poles had issues with rust. Have not seen that issue come up in quite some time though so it appears that they may have fixed the issue.

Its an xpert chrome. Trouble is I live in England so mostly wet and cold weather! Even now which is meant to be our "summer" the pole has a wettness to it when I first go into the garage. Xx

Hi! I'm from england and have my pole in the garge too. Mine is an chrome Xpole, roughly 6-7 yrs old, but only in the garage for 2. I'm sorry to say, I have noticed after winter that there is slight bubbling rust. Only very tiny and towards the bottom, so doesn't really get in my way too much. I have the floor around it carpeted to try and help warmin, because I find it very cold! Also my garge is a double with two big doors and not very well insulated at all! I never thought about wrapping it up. Wish I really wish I had though!

Hmm you could get a length or 2 of normal foam pipe insulation( the grey stuff put around water pipes) to put round the pole, it might help to keep the condensation off? Not sure whether it'd actually work but it'd probably be cheaper than buying fancy trampoline covers!

Hi, the grey pipe instulation tubes thet Debss mentioned are great! i live in England too and have two 50mm Xpoles. One in a my basement and the other in an old outhouse that i've turned into a little pole room. Both rooms can get damp and cold, so i keep the" pipe lagging"( as my boyfiend calls it) on both my poles when not in use all year round. Perfect as it keeps the poles at room temperature and quick and easy to put on and take off and protects them when not in use,and can possibly help to disguise a pole if needed lol! Before I used the insulation tubes , i had a real problem with a wet slippy pole in both rooms. Problem solved now though. works perfectly. My boyfriend got the grey pipe insulation tubes from the building sites he works on free too! ....(so maybe you know a plumber?) but don't think it's too expensive to buy if you search for pipe lagging on line. If the pole is uncovered it can get very cold, so as soon as the heating goes on the moisture in the air covers the pole and it was getting wet and slippy and i too worried about that ruining the pole over time too. I also have a de humidifier that i use in colder months in the basement. I put it on for a few hours before uncovering the pole. Sorry i've gotten a little carried away on this subject lol! but I'm sure there must be other people who would benefit from using this lagging as covering or protection.I have always wondered why Xpole etc don't sell a similar cover?

Thanks for your descriptive reply! Yeah i definately think xpole have missed a trick here there must be lots of people in our situation!! I googled pipe lagging and this is probably a silly question but how did you get it to fit your pole? I typed in 50mm pipe lagging but it doesnt make it clear that the 50mm is the diameter of the hole or the thickness of the insulation. Also did you cut a slit down the cover to wrap it around or does it already come with that? Ive only had my pole up a week but I'm finding the cold a problem so I hope this will help. When I warm the pole even if I step away for a minute everytime I go back to it, its wet again! I dont have any electricity in the garage so I couldnt use a dehumidifier :( The pipe lagging definately seems cheaper than trampoline sleeves so I think ill choose this option. Thanks xx
