A few pole peeps I know of here in the UK auditioned for Britain's Got Talent. One of them got through the first round, but I don't know how far she got, and the other was Adam J who got buzzed out by Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell, but kept in by Amanda Holden. They flashed Adam up at the beginning of last weeks show, but didn't show anything more of him and there was a clip of a pole person (couldn't tell who) in the 'coming next time' section at the end of the show so hopefully there will be something on this weekend. It's really good that pole is getting some sort of wider recognition now. They did have Deb Riley and a few other girls performing as 'backing dancers' on the last series of Britain's Got Talent but the act they were performing with didn't get through - "oh, let's all mourn the loss of DJ Talent" (look him up on YouTube if you've not heard of him - a truly horrendous representation of a British male!

Loopielou wasn't it 3 girls who auditioned for BGT last year but never made it any farther? I'm still waiting for a British pole dancer to make it into the mainstream... 🙂 This was totally heartwarming! Kym and the rest were the first ever pole vid I saw and she's a major pole inspiration of mine, I'm so glad to see them here and they were BLOODY AMAZING! What they're doing is exacly what pole needs to be accepted as a sport/art form 🙂 I hope they win! Last year the girl who won Miss Pole Dance Hungary also auditioned for Hungary's Got Talent and when she started her routine she was booed and hissed (by the judges too..), and then she went into an extended butterfly and everyone's jaw dropped, I loved it 🙂
Not sure about last year on BGT - it is possible that the girls who ended up as backing dancers had actually auditioned? I know that Jess Leanne Norris (from JLN in Bolton - I think - she's only around 17/18 and she has her own pole studio, amazing talent) got through the first audition stage this year in Manchester, but not sure how much further she has got. I don't think they take it seriously enough here to put anybody through to the live stages. Dannii Minogue really had those girls' backs on that Australia one didn't she? She understood how difficult it was and the men just ogled 🙂

They should have skipped the stripper shoes and all... I think the Aussie girls took the right approach and made it more fun/less sexy. This kind of got me thinking about the differences between public attitude in different countries. There were absolutely no disapproving looks and prejudiced remarks to the Australian girls, while pole doesn't get much positive publicity in the UK does it? At least the abuse I and my pole club get is shocking sometimes. Dannii was really sweet indeed, I loved how she stood up for them! Does anyone know when the girls will be on telly again?
I can't get on that link from work - they ban everything here, but will have a look when I get home and let you know if I know them 🙂 I just get raised eyebrows when I tell people that's what I do for a hobby. I don't quite know what they think we get up to! I don't really care though to be honest - I've never been in better shape physically (or mentally I think) so all them people who go on about it being bad can bugger off! 😛

Yeah I know, I stopped defending pole to everyone, I just don't have the time to deal with ignorance and stupidity. I've become a much happier person since I started poling so everyone can sod off. 🙂
These girls are awesome, kym is one of the best acrobatic polers in Australia. The two that did the trick where one's hanging upside down and the other is hangin off her in the scorpio-to the head (dunno what its called), won best trick for that move at last years Miss Pole Dance Australia and 2nd overall in the competition. Since they got through this round we can expect to see more of them soon yipeeeee! These girls are definitely inspirational. You should see them in real life! :O

My Dad called me all excited the other day and told me to turn on my tv and switch the channel so I could see what was on AGT. 'Yeah, that's the Pure Pole Angels, Dad!'. 'But they're on mainstream TV!' Lol. I just thought: 'about time' and giggled SO much at the judges faces. I pole at home, my friends pole, I take pole classes and I'm part of pole communities online, I often forget that pole isn't mainstream because it is for me! Mum and Dad are also super excited about Pole potentially being in the Olympics. I just find myself accepting it like OF COURSE pole should be recognised as a 'real' sport. Am I too pole exposed or something? Anyway, that was a wicked performance! LOVE that they all told everyone what their full-time jobs are and made their costumes and makeup more fit than glitz so as not to alienate the un-pole-aware audience.

Likewise, Alesia will be performing on Britain's Got Talent this week (not sure what night) so everybody has to get their phones out and vote in the UK. I can't believe she got through - she is performing on a 6m pole so hopefully she can pull off a brilliant performance 🙂 Can't wait to see it. Tobias Mead last night did abit of pole in his dance act (only one lift), but was pretty good.
