pole ceiling height

well well as I continue my fun adventure in the pole world. I have to ask myself... How tall should my pole be? The area where I'm hoping to install is about 7 ft 2 in. And that's just approx with my tape measure. Now I just wanted to get everyone else EXPERIENCED opinions. Is that tall enough? I'm new to this so its not like I need massive height right now to do drops and such since i'm still very unexperianced. My question is, how tall are YOU? I'm 5'4" and have 7' ceilings and it hinders me sometimes. I kick the ceiling quite a bit, and when I do a shoulder mount, I barely have enough room to get one leg around the pole to go into an invert from it. I only have enough room to maybe do one climb. So yes, it's enough height, but barely - I wouldn't make that your permanent solution. What kind of pole are you getting? Just be warned - X-Pole's minimum height is 7'4", and I know several other poles are around the same height. You would have to get a separate extension and use it in place of one of the main pieces. If you're going to get a one-piece permanent pole, you won't have to worry about it. Btw I have a pole dancing blog, too - http://polespection.blogspot.com

eeekkk!!! im 5'6!! and i always wear a min 5 inch heels when I go out or dance... ugh I was planning on an x-pole but now i'm scared i've hit a bump in the road.... grr is it even worth the $$$ . And I'm about to go read your blog!!! 😀

Lol I wasn't trying to talk you out of it or anything. And I have an X-Pole, too - I had to buy the 750mm extension and use it in place of the main pole that didn't have the adjuster screw in it. And it was the only place I could put a pole, and I wasn't willing to give up on having a pole of my own because my ceiling was a little short. I can still do most of the moves, and it really encourages me to do them slow and controlled so I don't kick something, lol. Plus I know that the place I'm living isn't permanent - someday I'll have a place with higher ceilings. 😉 But good luck, it's not impossible to pole with low ceilings, you just have to be more careful. 🙂

thanks!! Im not quite talked out of it no worries!!! I figure might as well have a x pole here in my basement at 7'2 , practise then not have one at all!! 7 feet is better then nothing.. and like you said Ill just have to be careful to kick things (not that im even nearly at the point to be getting high on the pole- still a beginner.... but im gonna go for it anyways! So excited to be getting a pole in the near future!

I'm 5'6" too my ceiling is technically 7'10" but because of how the adjusters work out I have 6'9" to work with (ceiling plate takes some of it too), lame I know becuase the tubing that might have just fit was about 1/2 too tall 😈 It is do-able but limiting. I tend to squat a little to invert because if I dont my feet are already on the ceiling (although it is fun to feel like you're more pro than you are by walking on it around your pole). Just something to consider.
