Pleaser Shoe Sizing

Hey all! So I just got my first pair of Pleaser shoes and they are just beautiful! Unfortunately they are a little small. I usually wear a size 8.5 US, sometimes an 8, so I bought the size 8 in "Delight." They seem pretty ok in length. Definitely at the very edge but my toes don't hang over or anything. They are preeeeetty tight in the toes. Is this pretty typical? And does the plastic on top stretch over time? If not, do you prefer your heels to be a bit smaller or a bit bigger if not true to size? I want them to be comfortable to dance in but also don't want to exchange them for a size up if all they needed was some time. I SO wish Pleaser made half sizes! Thank you for your help!

You want the shoes to be a little tight, since they'll stretch more and more as you dance. The plastic will stretch as you break in your new shoes. I bought the size 10 and I usually wear 10.5. I think it just varies. Since your toes aren't hanging off the edge, I'd say you're alright. However, if the plastic over your toes feels more than a little tight, I'd exchange them. But if they're just a little tight and your feet fit in them fine otherwise, I'd keep them and break them in. It only took me a few days to break my pleaser's in.

I had to go up a size in pleasers...I've never been a size 8 in my life but there was no getting my foot into that 7 because of the toe strap like not even to give it time to stretch. I felt like the size I had to get was way bigger/loose at the time but I've been able to walk in them so far with the ankle strap on tightest. I hope they don't get even bigger due to the nature if the material and wish they had half sizes!

I'm the opposite. I wear a size 10 in every shoe known to man but did not feel secure in a size 10 stiletto. I size down to a 9 in every pole shoe I wear, including pleasers. They do start off tight in the toes, of course. But they will stretch over time, and it doesn't take too long. I found that the clear plastic shoes take much longer to stretch than the poly (leather imitation) styles. What I always did was use the clear plastic shoes at home to slowly break them in first, and that took some time, but was worth it. Once they are broken in they fit like a glove. Hope this helps!

I'm new to this - are there specific things to look for when choosing shoes to dance in?

@allgold, you generally want shoes that don't have a lot of buckles and stuff on them because they can scratch or damage the pole. Platform shoes are easier to walk in because they can have a high heel without your foot actually being super pointed. Like if you have 6 inch heels with a 4 inch platform, you've got 6 inch heels that feel like 2 inches. Shoes made from PVC or plastic can help grip the pole, which helps when climbing. So PVC boots are basically like having super Spider-man powers when climbing the pole. Having an ankle strap is pretty crucial too just to keep them secure. Pleaser and Ellie are two of the biggest/favorite brands for pole shoes. That's what I've learned so far!

If they are plastic/PVC you can blow dry the plastic with a hair dryer to make it a little more pliable when you put them on, I have wide feet and have a couple pairs that I've actually had for years that still need to be heated before I can get them on. You want them snug but not painful toes turning purple snug.

Can someone please tell me if there is some sort of difference made by the SHAPE of the platform, namely along the front? I'm looking at two different but similar shoes and trying to decide which ones I want... just noticed that one is sort of u-curved while the other is more of a diagonal inward towards the heel - and it made me curious. ALSO as a note please let me know if you have tried either of these and if there are any notes. I use the blow dryer on the plastic also and it works well! Also, I know what you mean...some seem to have a more rounded toe while others are more pointy. I will say that I have tried Tony, Ellie, and Pleaser. I always go through shoes like crazy, seemed like I was buying shoes every 6 months. I finally had a pair of pleasers that were 7 inch heels, white, with a single clear strap over the feet...they held up the longest and lasted a year and a half! I will check what the style is called, they were so comfortable. I still use them at home to practice sometimes. Also, as much as I love rhinestones and the shoes with rhinestones...sometimes they fall out and then get stepped on...which equals cuts and scrapes while doing floorwork. So, if you purchase shoes with embellishments, be careful. :)Good luck with your shoes!
