Platinum Stage Pole

I was going to buy my first pole...the Xpole but I have vaulted ceilings so I am unable to use the xpole because of the dome. My next option is the platinum stage poles. I'm wanting to get just the pole not the ones that have the stages with them. Can anyone tell me if this is a good alternative? I'm worried I'm not going to get a good pole that I will be satisfied with. For the money I'm going to be spending I've been doing a lot of research but I think I'm just confusing myself. I have also been reading their website and it says that if there is "too much flex" to buy a pole from the hardware store to add to the center. What does it mean if there's "too much flex?" Is my pole going to be moving alot? Does it fasten into the floor? I'm wanting to order it either today or tomorrow so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Platinum Stages has a vaulted ceiling adapter you'll have to order with your pole. you can get a multipiece or one piece cut to size. multipiece poles are solid up tp 12ft. you will have some flex in the pole - the taller the pole the more flex you'll have. as long as you install it properly you'll be fine. I have 3 PS poles - they are great!

I have a PS pole- I'm very fond of it. I know sites have their patron poles- but I find PS to be just as nice as X. I like how the X starts out a lot more grippy than the PS, but I think a nice conditioned PS is supergood. I had a weird event happen with mine (similiar to badazz's newest pole fall), where myself and the pole both hit the floor together. I haven't had any problems aside from that, and I'm thinking that maybe my fear of over tightening caused that to happen in the first place! 🙂 Anyhoo! PS nice!

I just flew off my platinum stages pole tonight right onto the floor on my back because the pin came out. For those of you who don't know, you put a pin in the base which stops it from spinning and makes the pole static. Thank god I didn't get hurt. I have video of it and was thinking of putting it up for shits and giggles. My husband thinks it's hysterical. Incident aside, this has been happening lately with my pole. The studio where I teach also has the platinum stages and on certain poles, the pins will come out randomly. We joke that those poles have a spinning destiny, but it's all fun 'til someone gets hurt.

I use the Vaulted Ceiling adapters in my studio for the PS poles! REMEMBER...the VC adapter MUST be attached to the ceiling...this means the pole is NO LONGER complete removable. The adapter stays up! Easily covered, yes...but still permanently installed! The poles are awesome. I am the Canadian Retailer for Platinum Stages...have been for over 6 years! Personally, I have NEVER had an issue with a pole falling, or slipping out of place, that is why I posted an install video for the PS pole! This way people understand that you DO need to tighten it...and it take more than you think to overtighten it! I set up my poles 6 days a week in my studio, as they come down after every class! If anyone has any ?'s about the PS, feel free to ask! I would be more than happy to help! Alena

Alena, I have a question. I have a P.S. permanent brass spinner. How can I get the pin to stay in when I want it stationary? It has come out several times during practice and I have fallen down but luckily I wans't seriously hurt. The pin in pushed in all the way and still somehow works itself out. I'm really afraid this is going to get dangerous.

I had this problem for awhile too and cannot understand why it happened. I was wondering if dancing in shoes might be the reason, long shot here, but what if a stilletto pulls on it from the side or something and it comes undone???

I was thinking...what kind of tricks are you doing? Major advanced tricks that may be putting some strain on the pole? If so, I think when you are doing a trick it bows the pole some and when it "snaps" back into place your pin is falling out. I'm not sure if this is a possibility for you or not. Just something to look for. I have the same PS brass spinner (love it by the way 😀 ) and when I do some tricks it bows with me and comes back. My pin is in pretty tight so I'm not having that problem, just yet, of it wanting to slide out. Hope this helps.

I dont use the brass, just the stainless.... If the pin is brass, that could be the issue. Brass is a much softer metal (the reason they dont make a multi piece), and if the pin is brass, the normal movement of the pole will wear down the pin. I do know there was a batch of pins that were slightly thinner than the normal ones (I have issues getting the normal ones out with nails..LOL). I noticed the difference in size from those to my pin (my pole is almost 7). Also.....if the pole is not SECURELY tightened...the pole will have a vertical play at the bases...the pole essentially lifts up...pushing the pin up and out! Hope this helps.....if not, I suggest you contact Kim at Platinum for a better solution!

Well, that settles it then - I'll just order a bag of new pins - they are so cheap and I am always loosing mine anyways.

The pin isn't brass, so that's not the issue. The pin is pretty short and I think with a lot of movement, it just works itself out. I posted the vid of me busting my butt. I fall at the end, so you can see the work I did leading up to the pin's exit. I wasn't doing anything crazy, in fact I was taking it easy b/c I have a shoulder/neck issues right now.

Hmmm...the pin is short??? normal pin is between 1.75 and 2" in length...and there is a hole at the bottom of the clevis pin? My suggestion is maybe a new pin...or better yet, for the doityourselfer...... Buy a flat head nail that is slightly larger in length and diameter/thickness, and insert it. I had to buy some nails when my pin order did not come in time...they work, they are longer...and a bit more secure. I didnt even file the tip off the nail, but you could do that! Considering the pins are $5.....and a nail is less than $0.49...try the nail!
