Can someone help me? What is the difference between the pencil mount and the iguana mount? Is the pencil just that your legs go straight up but with an iguana they sweep out to each side before ending in a pencil?

Sure! The pencil is the name of the move where you are gripping the pole behind your back and your legs are straight up off the pole. The iguana mount is the back mount that gets you up into the pencil/bow and arrow/lunch box/cross ankle release. You don't have to go into the pencil from iguana. Make sense?

Ok, so I think you're saying that the iguana is the mount to get upside down with your hands behind your back and then the pencil is a way that you could finish the iguana mount by ending up with your feet sticking straight up in the air. Correct me if I got it wrong! 🐱

yup! I was confused about it too because in the Vertical Dance gallery they show the pencil twice and one of them is named the iguana.

Don't feel bad about being confused....We all still get confused over names of moves and some make no sense at all! In my lessons I call it the pencil, pencil mount (iguana), broken pencil (lunch box), and pencil split.... I just thought it would make more sense than using all the random names....I'll be renaming some moves soon though. 🤓

Thanks y'all! That helps! I figured they were in the same family of moves! Hmm...gotta find out what this lunchbox thing is. Hey Veena, if you're going in to change some of the names throw some more lessons in there too!!! I absolutely love all of them. Errrr...not that I can actually do all of them. I'm in between pages 7 and 8 out of 10 right now but I'd hate to ever get to the end! Haha! I guess I just want neverending SV lessons. They're just so helpful and clear Although I'd have no suggestions on other moves to showcase! 😀 !

actually, (to make it even more confusing) according to wikipole: - lunchbox = rubber pencil - pencil split = broken pencil *sigh* all those different names... 😕
