Pain in arm when pressure applied to hand

Hi guys, was just wondering if any one else has had this? And what they have done/any advice. Its been happening on and off for a while now, when i put pressure on my hand it results in shooting pain on the side of my wrist/lower arm. It usually goes straight away, but sometimes it lingers for a couple of hours, and its been happening more and more. I do suffer with shoulder/kneck pain from previous whiplash injuries, could it be linked to that? Thanks in advance guys x

I didnt have the pain in my hand I got it in between my shoulders whenever id invert so I had to stretch my spine and work on my posture but I had the pain for about 7 months then it went away after I fixed my posture. It could be the way your grabbing the pole, I really dont know. Sorry I cant help you, hopefulley someone can

Thankyou for replying :) Not sure if its the way im grabbing pole as its not just when on the pole, it could be when im in a handstand etc, and a couple of months ago it was to the point it did it when i was driving my car :/ Glad you manged to sort out your pain though!!! x

not sure what it is, there are many things that could cause this. your tendons could be inflamed from overuse, misuse, or a sprain. to be safe you might want to rest that hand for a couple of weeks then ease back into poling by doing conditioning exercises and stretches AFTER you have rested for a couple of weeks and IF you are not feeling pain. A neck injury can also cause pain in the arm,hand , or shoulder but if it is happening while you are exerting pressure maybe it is more likely that it is not from your neck but an injury or strain to the tendons or nerves in the arm or hand. if it has been going on for a couple of months you should probably get it checked out. the dr. will probably have you rest it for several weeks to see where you are from there. if it is tendonitis or a sprain you do not want to keep exerting pressure on it or even stretching it until it heals. take care of it now so that you wont have long term problems. hope you heal quickly.

lilredrobinhood, thanks for the reply, going to try rest it for a bit, though its driving me potty!!!! and if its stil bad mention it to my doc at an appt iv got next month. dirtygirl, thank you for the video. would that grip work in brassmonkey etc? and would the explanation for the pain you gave relate to when it happens in things like handstands etc? xxx

Yes it can absolutely work for BM, I would start with your pointer finger down only first before moving to the middle to make sure you have a good grip with your knee. Yes, I did have issues with handstands and whatnot for a long time. I had to completely rest that forearm for about a month, with ZERO pressure on it. The I started with re-strengthening exercises. Like squeezing balls, twisting towels etc. I no longer have issues with handstands but if I hold that bottom are on that twist for more than a second, I get searing pain. So I'm very aware of how my hands are placed.
