Hi everybody! I just bought a pole a few weeks ago to my apartment. A week after I went to a studio for the first time and the pole in the studio was so grippy and I was able to do a lot more tricks than at home! Therefore I want to know, can I make my pole more grippy? So I won't slip down when practising at home? Maybe spray it with something ? Thanks in advance guys :) Xoxo

Were the studio poles a different finish than the one your purchased? If you bought a chrome for home....and danced on a brass.....there is going to be a huge difference in grippy factor.... If your pole and the studio poles have the same finish----say chrome........and you are noticing a huge difference it could be that the manufacturing finish is still on yours. The poles when new need a really thorough cleaning with soapy water. If you search the threads on here you will find all sorts of excellent tips for cleaning and maintaining your pole. If you bought a brass pole and the studio has brass as well......... The major difference is the funky green film brass develops...lol Clean brass looks really pretty....but it isn't as grippy as dirty brass. Brass also takes longer to warm up......so if you went to the studio and worked on a brass pole there....having a class right before yours would ensure those poles are already pretty warm. Just a few thoughts.....

Thanks a lot for your answer! The one i bought for home is chrome.. I don't know what the poles in the studio are made of. (I don't know what brass is ? I'm from a small country in Europe).. Does it feel like chrome ? I guess I can just ask at the studio :) And what finishes is available ? They were both very smooth and shiny if that helps :) Thanks for the tips. I will search for the maintaining threads in here :)
Brass is literally a brass finish. You would know if the studio poles were brass. You can tell by the color of them..... Yours being chrome.... Are you making sure you and the pole are warm? Cold poles and cold bodies....make for a slippy mess. Also, if it is brand new....and you didn't wash it upon opening it up....I would guess the manufacturers finish is still all over the pole. Give it a good wash down with warm soapy water.......dry it off really well. Clean it with alcohol.... It should get better.

Sometimes I put spray rosin on my pole to make it more grippy for more advanced move practices. I've used this stuff before and that makes the pole very sticky. What colour is brass ? Goldish ? Thanks for the advice.. I'll make sure I wash my pole thouroughly before i ue it next time. @Jenn. The homepage says it's not available.. however, I'm not sure they can sent it abroad to europe ? :)

Ohhhh Brass <3 Brass is goldish in colour ;) much much different than chrome (silver in colour). It might be tough to get your grip sorted out initially, but learning the same moves on both types of poles will be really good for you in the end! Mighty Grip worked great for me on my chrome pole! but that being said, everyone is different. Might be worth a try ;)

Ahh then I guess the poles at the studio are brass.. Damn it they're good! My own is chrome so that is a bit different.. I guess I will benefit from "doing" both types in the end as you say .. Thanks for the clearence :)
when taking class the poles there were great but when i went to club the pole there is much smaller and has no gripping ability at all what would you recommend to help with doing things on the smaller pole as well helping with gripping
