Newbie Question about Pole feeling Hot

Okay I have had my Pole one week now. I am patiently waiting for payday so I can sign up for the Lessons here. So I have been practicing walking around the pole, some dancing, seeing if I can hold my weight and playing.  Mostly admiring it : ) I noticed when I was doing what I think is a Fireman? My hands got so hot like the Pole got very warm where my hand got spinning around it. I was so excited that I could hold my weight up off the ground. I did it several times sloppy but I did it... I noticed how hot my hand got. I just was not expecting that. Sorry if this is a redicules question but is the heat feeling normal? I have a lot to learn.
